the afterlife: what happens when you die?

first off, lets not turn this into a religion flame war, but my grandpa recently passed this last week, which has me all turned up, but thats a story for another day, what do you guys think happens when you die? do our brains die but our conciseness lives on? is it an eternal sleep until the 2nd coming??

 

This thread is going to turn into a big argument, and you will probably end up sad and angry.

What other people believe about this doesn't matter too much, not nearly as much as what you think happens.

 

Anyone professing to know anything at all about an afterlife should jump off a cliff and go there faster.

 

Well... We can't know, but I like to think it's like a peaceful sleep.

But there is no way to know, you're just going to have to wait, and find out for yourself.

 

No one knows. People just need to learn to deal with that.

Probably nothing. You know what it was like before you were born. You had no awareness, which was not unpleasant.

 

I am also claiming I have no idea. Since I have not experienced it myself, obviously since i am alive. But I think something must happen. Haven't you ever had an encouter with spirits before, I do believe in 'ghosts' or spirits, are they not of people who have passed on? Its actually scary to think about it. Sometimes I think we do reincarnate, have you ever felt that you may have lived passed lives. I donno just throughing ideas out there. I don't think anybody knows, really, but it is interesting to see others points of view...so get writing.
