The american spell checker depreciation thread

Why doesn't any piece of software I use have a BRITISH English spell checker incorporated into it!

There I am typing away, and up comes the dreaded red underline to the word I just typed, and I look at it to see where the typo is, only I can't fucking find it can I, BECAUSE THERE IS NO TYPO!

Organisation is spelled with an "S" not a fucking "ZEEEEEEEEEEE..." or "ZED" as it is properly called

Colour is spelled COLOUR, not freaking COLOR, IT HAS A "U" IN IT!

You Americans must realise that your language came from here, and you better bloody well respect that! Yes, that's correct, REALISE, not REALIZE!

There is no "Z" in REALISE! IT IS ONLY PRONOUNCED WITH A "zzzzzzz" because that is how it pronounced, the letter "S" can be pronounced with a "z", it depends on the word!

For example, when using the plural of a noun by added an "s" at the end, the "s' is pronounced as a "zzzzz", not a "ssssss", unless the word is "pants". "Things" is pronounced with a "zzz", you don't write thingz, unless you are bloody hip hop artist, WHICH MOST OF US BLOODY AREN'T!

I wonder how many words we (The British) have bastardised over the centuries.
Thousands I imagine.
Cuz most of our words certainly didn't come from here originally.

As for this major issue...just download an English spell checker.

 

Didn't know that was a possibility. I thought each software came with it's own in built spell checker, which is usually american.

 

Yeah, you can download specific spell checkers wich can attach to your web browser. What web browser do you use?

 

I was using safari, until the latest update from apple fucked it up. I am now using firefox, and thinking about moving to opera, because firefox isn't really much better.

Not an American version, which he seems to be lumbered with.
So I asked if the ispell that is on the Hip Forums was an English version.
It isn't.
It is an American version.
Using the spell check on here will therefore make McLeodGanja very angry.

See,,Laura May was being funny/facetious when she mentioned a HF spell checker I think, as if anyone here (though there are some) cared much about correct spelling. Then your response seemed to be addressing the technical aspect/reality of there being an in-house spell checker, not recognizing her funny.

You are kind of correct. But I wasn't actually being funny. I was seriously wondering if he had a spell checker on HF. Mainly for the reasons in bold. I relate to those the most.
