the babtist church near our house posts signs that

trouble me and aren't appropriatte for children to see. One of there signs says 'exposure to the son may prevent burning' the other one says 'abortion is murder'. Now as an adult it doesn't bother me but if I had a child and had to drive past those it would outrage me. It just all seems odd to me.

 

No, you're wrong. It's very logic that an old man who has Parkinson's disease, who never got married and that probably the only sex he ever had was with children, should decice how you live your life...

 

I think that religion can exist but only on a private level. Make groups, then you have group wars. Make countries into some religion, you have world wars.
I have a dumb idea here - why don't we feed everyone who's alive, educate them, shelter them - then afterwards, we can use gold to make statues for invisible gods... Man, I'm dumb...

 

yeah all that dmanationand hell fire doesn't appeal to me. I went to a really liberl lutheran church when I was younger.

 

too many churches are about control rather than guidance......



its funny how the bible says that god didn't want the original christians to worship the golden cow statue and now the christians worship a symbol, the cross

 

the few times I've been in a christian church I was kind of appalled by the cross with a bloody jesus on it, and the depictions of torture on the walls....talk about negative!i dolove going into ancient cathedrals, i can see where the inspiration is there, it seems dramatic and uplifting....most american churches seem like office depots or something.

i don't live too far from oak park, illinois, where the church is located and where many other wright houses are and his studio/school is not too far from me up in wisconsin......the man was a genius.....

 

yeah, that is because they were worshipping a god besides him. It was a false God. The cross symbolizes Jesus and the suffering he went through to save the people on earth, and Jesus is God as human. So in essence, you are worshipping God.

 

you should see the catholic churches here in rural kansas. Alot of them are breathtaking.

 

anyways, sticking with the original thread, most of these religious quacks make these signs and post them all over the highway. actually, one of my cousins designed a sign on highway 36 reading "Pro choice is no choice for aborted babies". Fred Phelps and his gang like to picket funerals of gay people and big time events around the topeka area with signs depicting two guys having butt sex with a line going through it. Other signs read "america is going to hell" and "all fags must die". At a local catholic church event for kids around the surrounding communities, some of the Phelps merry gang had signs reading "all priests are fags and all nuns are dykes". yeah that is appropriate for children to read.

i wonder what they think they are accomplishing by doing anti-gay pickets in Kansas, any intelligent gay person has probably already left that state.An ybody who pickets a funeral deserved to be swarmed by an angrier mob.

 

well, the thing is, Reverend Fred Phelps has sons and daughters who are all into law, so he has the first amendment right thing saving his ass every time.

of course it is idol worship. But you are worshipping God, not some false god. Anything can be false god worship too, not some symbol. It usually has to do with drugs or alcohol, or MONEY. most televangelists are worshipping false gods, and that god being $$.

 

It is so sad that these people bring God into there own opinions. People that believe in God think that on judgement day, they we will all be judged on there sins, All alone, one on one. These people(judging others) are just hipocrits!

 

and who is to say God isn't a false god as well?

in high school, there were a few people that put "its a child not a choice" stickers on there lockers and wore t-shirts that said the same thing

they didn't let her walk at graduation because she wouldn't stop wearing it

there was a church near me that had a sign posted september (somedate) to october (somedate) is national action against pornography week. i thought that was pretty funny
