    I mean, I like em....

a bit... but come on now. They're not what people make them out to be.

But, you know, it's so "hippy" to adore them. Silly....

And yes, I like them at times but they arent like the breaking point of music that people make them out to be.

The Beatles are so highly thought of because they revolutionized the music scene and intoduced rock n' roll into mainstream.

I like them and all, but I don't believe they are any more gifted than any other musicians.

I don't really like them either, I really can't see how the Beatle phenomenon was so popular. There are so many (no offense to any hardcore Beatle fans) better bands out there.

I don't think they're overrated. They're overworshipped, but not overrated.

A band like the Beatles cannot be overrated because their impact on music was so big, whether you actually like their music or not.

I haven't listened to the Beatles in years myself, but I can't deny their creative powers, which were immense. They were a revolutionary band, yet they attracted so many people. Few bands in history have had the ability to do both, and to the degree in which the Beatles have.

yup, Matty said it all. They are overworshipped indeed, but not overrated. Its hard to say such a revolutionary band in all aspects is overrated. Hell, they influenced so many bands at that time and now. I dont think there was any band that was that influential.

they may not have been the best musicians but they brought something new to the music scene, they were innovative and unique. I think that this is why they are so popular, new ideas are common to successful leaderships. The Beatles are still influencing bands now. There is probably many a person who just likes them to be "cool", but they're contribution to music cannot go unrecognised. They obviously had something no one else did!

They ushered the sixties. Nothing too shabby, yet it was a lot more.

I can't get into their first "love you , yeah yeah" bubblegum sound.

But I must admit the power of their music during the late sixties.

My favorite compilation is "The Blue Album" (1967-1970) which has best songs (IMO)
    Truly awesome sounds.
Strawberry Fields Forever 2. Penny Lane 3. Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band 4. With a Little Help from My Friends 5. Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds 6. Day in the Life 7. All You Need Is Love 8. I Am the Walrus 9. Hello Goodbye 10. Fool on the Hill 11. Magical Mystery Tour 12. Lady Madonna 13. Hey Jude 14. Revolution Disc: 2
    1. Back in the U.S.S.R. 2. While My Guitar Gently Weeps 3. Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da 4. Get Back 5. Don't Let Me Down 6. Ballad of John and Yoko 7. Old Brown Shoe 8. Here Comes the Sun 9. One thing you have to understand, the Beatles are a revolution. And they don't fit into any cliche groups.

You pretty much nailed it, but I think that it's *No* band in history has done what they did. I personally don't think they're overworshipped either; not to those of us who live and breath music, although I think you're stating that in a way that others are going to misperceive. They brought about albums, for Christs' sake! Almost everything was singles before the Beatles, and the insane rate that they released stuff; how many put out 4+ albums a year? I can think of none but Guided by Voices (who I personally think is an unknown John Lennon, but that's another story). I can go on and on about the Beatles... and I'm not even one of their maniacal fans.

And where's the older folks on this site who lived through their rise? I love talkin to my folks about the Beatles revolution...

I like them, I like some of their songs like "Let it be", "here comes the sun", and "come together", some pple dont like them, some do, but they did do alot for rock n' roll, sure they may be over-rated, w/e, alot of bands R over-rated, but that doesnt make them ne less of a band, they're not the best, they're not the worst, but they r the beatles, and they were so big in that era, ur opinon, my opinon, we'll leave it at that. Peace, Love, and Rock N' Roll !!!

    Overworshipped, but mostly overplayed...

I like many of their songs, although I don't like their early stuff at all.

I like the Kinks more for some reason, but the Beatles were definitely cultural leaders of the time

Quote: Guided by Voices (who I personally think is an unknown John Lennon, but that's another story...

A drunken Ohio version....I talked to them and Kim Deal after a GBV show once.....experts in pharmocology and/or extreme drunks.

Anybody who denies the Beatles importance to Rock n Roll, really doesnt know a whole lot about it.
