I was wondering, what is everyone's opinion on who the best bass players are? Not the guy you think looks the coolest or anything like that. I'm talking who has the best skill.

I'd have to say Bill Dickens (The Buddha), Victor Wooten, and Jaco Pastorious.

And yes, that is in order.

Victor Wooten isnt even in the normal "bass" class. They should just go ahead and slap a big "god of bass" on his forhead and be done with it. Below him is squarepusher. Tom Jenkinson or something like that. This dude is fuckin sick. Best show ive ever seeen. Below that would be Stanely Clarke and claypool, with flea rounding out the top five

    1. Wooten

    2. Squarepusher
    3. Clarke
    4. Claypool
    5. Flea

I'd have to go with Claypool.

A couple who haven't been mentioned yet that should be on this list: Chris Squire (Yes) and Billy Sheehan (Talas, Mr. Big).
