This thread is intended for discussing the possibilities of a sequel to this classic teen movie. Should there be a sequel, and what do you think it should be like?
I'm of a mind that most movies that come out do NOT need a sequel. This is a perfect example of one that should never have one. If they do make one, I will be the first to boycott it. Everything was said in the original that needed to be said and It hink it would be a great injustice to that movie to try to continue the story. I felt the same way about the Matrix. Was I wrong? Those sequels sucked! Sure, there were some great action and effects scenes, but I was thoroughly disappointed with the story and the directions it was taking. So, I think the best sequel for that movie would be none at all. Breakfast Club II: Lunch Time Mono
No no no, it stands on its own just fine. It would be like Ferris Buellers Day off II... what's the point?
It's one of my favorit movies of all time. It should be that they had kids and so a sequal should take place with their kids having to go through what they had to go through.
And then those kids can get married....and then their kids can get married and there can be a new sequel every 20 years.
No sequel, please!! That would end horribly and ruin everything! Like Grease 2, I can´t stand this stupid movie. Leave the classics alone, it´s so much better that way!!!
so, like a Breakfast Club II, the High School Reunion Special....where Jude Law is now a rich republican who wants tougher sentencing for juvineille delinquents, Emilo Estevez dropped out of sports to focus on his business degree, and is now another office drone, Molly Ringwald is a rich divoree who is on tranquilsers and fucking up her kids, Anthony Michael Hall lost his millions when his dot com when bust and is now working at WalMart and Ally Sheedy is a soccer mom in suburbia who cant figure out why she feels so flat or where things went wrong? Nah, it's be too depressing to see how youthful idealism turns to shit.
They all are older now... do you wanna see a bunch of adults sitting in detention? Sounds pretty bad.
I think Breakfast Club is such an icon that the feeling would be impossible to recapture, whatever is added to the story would never live up to the reputation of the original.
