Oh yeah, my country (Czech rep.) was livin for 41 years in communist regime and in 1989, here was the REVOLUTION.. so since 1989 we're democratic republic.. And when we had elections to Senate (about 1 week ago) the communists were the 2nd most successful.. OH MY GOD.. and I've read, that every 5th czech citizen would like the communists to come back.. aaaah.. What a hell does it mean..? I'm afraid of it, cause my family has really bad memories about communism.. and it's coming back.... aaa...
aaa, but US can never becoma a comunnist country, I guess.. but Czech rep., that has just about 10 millions people, who knows fuckin' well what communism is, but 20% of them want that hell back.. aaaw.. hm, I know.. I probably make just fast deduction, but..
heh, but.. you know.. when here was communism, people had always work, had where to live.. and so on.. that's all about people, who were quiet and who didn' say communism is shit.. you know what I mean.. they didn't make troubles.. and.. blah... But for example my grandpa. he always said what he thought.. that comunnists were the deep shit.. and so on.. and so he was in jail, my dad couldn't go on university.. aaa..
Well let's just leave it at the fact that all political systems don't work, there are always flaws, but I hate when people always blindly say communism doesn't work. In a country that has not been industrialized, and people still do all the work themselves, and make their own houses and grow their own food, communism can definitly work, to a place like the US or any industrialized, corporate country, it would not work, that is what I think most people mean when they say it just doesn't work. Peace and Love, Dan
Never say never. When the oil and natural gas run out and our technologically driven overconsuming societies come to a grinding halt, out of the inevitable chaos and violence for even basic survival will emerge a considerably different realisation of just how much a person needs to live comfortably, and it wont have anything to do with brand names either.
lol. so we either need an apocalypse or third world country. well, i suppose it'll be back to being a third world country. that's cool with me, nothing ever lasts forever. never.
The communist party is also the second strongest in many other ex-communist countries. It was even the second strongest during the senate elections in Russia a couple of years ago. This does not mean that it will come back, there is always usually a big margin. Communism did not do any good to the Czechia, last time I was in Prague I actually avoided speaking in Russian because of the people's hate for communist Russia. I would not truly worry about a communist government there just yet. If it ever comes close to one... the EU and probebly the US will not let it happen.
BraveSirRubin is pretty much right, I know 20% sounds like a lot, but think about the other 80% who didn't vote that way. Jana, don't worry, most Czechs are like us and know the failures and oppression we dealt with. It's just that the unemployment is high and so some people think communism is the answere, when it's not.
OH NO!!! You might have to share!! The only reason people EVER feared communism is because they feared losing their wealth and becoming equal to the rest of the society
Actually dont be so hasty. Capitalism is gobbling up everything to fuel the grasp for unlimited profit at such an unsustainable pace that it will come crashing down under its own weight eventually, especially when the oil runs out.
Uh, no, I think capitalism will be the answer when the oil runs out. All that incentive stuff.....you know....
There wont be incentives when urban centers become darkened chaotic places struggling amidst chaos just for each man's survival. Without viable alternative energy infrastructure in place, first will come energy rationing and eventually energy collapse. That means no light, no heat, no computers, bye bye databases and hello financial collapse. May not live long enough to see it but i suspect the next generation or two will.
Communists in the Czech Republic are mostly old people that want higher pensions, they don't even have the deluded teen rebels like Mui that we have to put up with. Importantly, most of the other parties are decidedly ANTI communist and would always cooperate to keep the communists out of power.
I'm not saying it couldn't work, just that it doesn't work... It goes against human nature... Obviously there will be people who think they're better, and deserve more.... Communism depends on everybody making it work... and in anything larger than a small community, that is just quite unlikely... Besides, which purely communist coutries have worked out okay?
