Everyone's got their own opinions and source of enlightenment.. there's no reason anyone should be arguing or anything of that nature. As a christian too, I applaud you.. but either way I would be smoking, if it weren't for me being in the military right now. But hey its an obligation and responsibility I have right now.. ok, i feel like a lot of this thread has been jimi420 going on about jesus and so forth and other people kind of attacking him. which has been entertaining... but at this point i feel like asking him questions..

i am not christian, and i really don't understand why christians believe a lot of the things they do.

so to begin with,

why is it that you think only people who accept the teachings of one person and follow certain rituals are allowed into this place you call heaven?

why is heaven a separate region of existence instead of universal?

why do you choose to allow a religious figure to 'take over' instead of seeking things out for yourself?

and PLEASE do not use bible passages to exlain.

 

Ok, I will respond to this only because I am bored at work right now. When I was in high school I was at an Episcopal Boarding School. Like everything I do, when I started to get into the church I would read everything I could find about comparative religion and I studied and could discuss any type of religion with the best of them. I learned a lot and was considering joining the seminary but then I met someone and ended up going to college and later getting married to the person I met. Now, that being said, my life just went in another direction. If God wanted me to be a priest he would have not changed the couse of my life. I am a firm believer that I was not ment to be one but that does not mean I can't study religion.

Now, regarding what I said, according to the new testament, Jesus died for for your sins. I know you can't argue that but I want you to understand something, religion is an interpretation of what God has passed down his message to us though his profits. The bible is only part of the message. A very small part. It was designed, by man, to present life lessions to the general masses. If you were to read all of the books of the bible it would take 23 volumes the same size of the current bible. There is so much more to the teachings of Jesus and his disciples. The entire works of John for example would take up two books the same size as the current bible.

What I am telling you is that I am happy for you that you have found Jesus and if that is what you need to understand God then again I am happy for you. What I am saying is that God also gave us a mind to choose how we wish to worship him. I am glad you feel that you are doing battle with Satan and trying to bring people back to God. However, I am willing to bet that eventually almost everyone will turn back to God, even if it's in the last few minuites of their life. What I am saying is that I am happy in the belief that Jesus died for all of our sins and that no matter what I do or feel or say I will still go to heven. If you don't feel that I will then I am sad for you for being so close minded. If you really want to worship God then I suggest you open your mind. Have a conversation and don't try to convince me how to live my life.

There are to many contradictions in the bible to believe that it was not written by man. Man is flawed don't be a sheep for the shepard, be a shepard and lead by example not in what you say but in what you do. If it's faith that will get me to heaven then I have enough faith for the whole world that everyone will be saved. Have a good one.

P.S. Sorry but one more thing, quoting scripture is just a cop out of an argument. If you need me to quote scripture I can but I feel that it is just one way to express yourself. If all you want to do is memorize the information and spit it back out again you loose the true meanings of those words. It's like taking a test in school. I was taught to think about what I was learning and absorb the information. Just learning the answers is kind of boring. It's like asking for a chocolate cake, now I could hand you all of the ingredients for that cake and say, here ya go, now make it yourself. It has all of the same elements but if you don't know how to put them together your end result will not be the same.

 

Sorry, got to add to this one a little as well. They say that God is in the details well that being said I don't think that anyone really has the answer. We can only interpret what God's wishes are and in reality I think God has let us figure it out for our selves. Now, without drugs I would be willing to bet that man would not even worship God at all. Most of the profits were taking drugs on a regular basis. There are reasons why some drugs were only associated with the church or would only aloud to be used by the holy people. More people have found God taking drugs than attending a tent meeting any day of the week.

 

See, dude you agree with me, sort of....Yes, Christ Died for your sins. (period) no one is going to Hell, it's closed now. No new customers for just under 2000 years. End of story. Heaven and Hell is an Old Testament Concept, wrath of God type thing. Then Jesus came into play and God got a chance to see what we were like and said all bets are off. Satan is one bored dude, hanging out with the same people. Open your mind to the concept that eveyone is going to heaven whether you believe or not.

Sorry, dude. I am not trying to beat up on your or your belief but I just want you to understand something. God wants you to enjoy your life. However, you wish to live it. If you want to spend your time devoded to him/her than devote your life to him/her in any which way you choose. If you feel that God has guided you to HipForums to try and get people to quit smoking weed and start smoking Jesus then great. Good for you and I wish you well. Keep on truckin'.

I would like for you to do one thing for me. Worship God, not Jesus. You keep going between them and I guess they are interchangable and all but it all boils down to only one thing. Worship God in your own way. So, if I am doing just that then why do you feel you need to tell me to turn to God. If my way was to worship Satan then I am still worshiping God because even Satan is God's creation. There are even some people who believe that Satan is the Chist and that Jesus was a pretender. I am not saying this to get you all worked up and such I just want you to consider all sides and make your on decisions. Just like God wants us to do. Everything you say Jimi is "the bible says". That doesn't mean shit. I mean, the bible has been changed how many times? They come out with a new version every year. Of course the bible is gonna say all the SHIT that they want you to believe.

 

I used to believe this stuff, too. I came to realize that believing a load of mumbo jumbo written by a bunch of savages from the Bronze Age was not going to continue to have sway over how I lived my life. I dare you, jimi420, to use reason and intelligence to look through this veil of religious dogma to see how utterly void of worth it is. Challenge yourself and read some books like "The God Delusion" or "God is not Great" to see that this religious crap not only holds you back as a person, but mankind as well. Go to exchristian.net and look at the stories of people there, many who dedicated their life to this "pursuit", only in the end to find out how pointless and meaningless it is. Live life for you, not some myth.

 

To ask me to not use scriptures to answer these questions is a silly request.. to not use scriptures to answer these questions would be unwise.. it would just jimi420 saying whatever the crap he wants.. and who the crap is jimi420? just some random fool who doesn't know what he's talking about.. that's why scriptures are so important to rely on because it comes from GOD. Why must one be birthed into life? if you were never born into this life.. you would never have lived.. if you were never born again into God's family. Out of the darkness into the light. Out of lies into truth. Then you could never live your new life in heaven with a new body.

Because, and I can not make you believe this, Jesus Christ is God. He is all knowing, all powerful, and all understanding. period. Why would I want to listen to my own teachings when I some one else knows better than I. And as a Son of God who wants to please His Father I will obey what He tells me to do. And I'm not perfect but I am at least trying to follow Christ.

People are allowed into heaven who get born again. Who give themselves up to Christ. It's not about works, but it's about giving your life to Him so that you may be born again. He does not make you jump through hoops. He stands at the door and knocks. I don't know everything, but getting born again goes something like this: repentance of sins(which is actually turning away from, not just saying sorry), and then actually bearing up your cross daily, and following Christ. You should be bearing fruit from this walk with Christ and if one is not then they may want to ask the Lord if they have truly been following Christ and are truly born again.


Why do I allow a "religious figure" to take over my life

I think you are missing the point of this.. you are looking at it like I am losing control of my life, and no longer have free will and become a robot. This would be a "Religious" spirit. It's when you do good works out of obligation and not love. You are asking this question likes its a boring obligation to give my life up to Christ, when it's not it's pure joy and I love it and I love Him. The end.
