On the December 9, 2025 episode of the Tamron Hall Show had actress Eve Larue who talked about her experiences with 12-years of being stalked. Larue said more punishment, harsher sentences are needed. And national data base since many stalkers are mentally ill, she added. Just a couple of things. Yes it is a social problem and yes mental illness is often involved. But we don't have to be heartless about it or make it worse by taking a law and order approach to the problem. Like we did with drug addiction, basically. Jail and prison only as a last resort. But prevention. Like I asked people a while back, if you could choose. A legal system based solely on prevention or one based solely on punishment, which would you choose? And which would you prefer if you could only choose one. Punishment alone or rehabilitation that always worked? Besides David Letterman and Sarah McLachlan had stalkers. And their approach was one of compassion, not anger and punishment. And their cases were not affected by that approach. (Although both cases ended tragically, for the stalkers, in suicide.)
