Embarrassing Flaws Emerge in Trump’s New White House Design

    excerpt:

Many have blasted the president’s neoclassical designs for reeking of megalomania, particularly given the sheer extent to which the new space will dwarf the existing site, which will have more than doubled by the time construction is complete in 2029.

“My concern is that it really transitions the whole thing into a presidential palace,” Edward Lengel, former chief historian of the White House Historical Society, told NPR. “That in some ways contradicts the original concept of the White House that the founders intended. [The building] is supposed to represent … a democratic symbol in a common democratic community.”

Trump Is Laying the Groundwork for Stealing the Midterms - WhoWhatWhy

    excerpt:

"However, a win in the midterms would allow Democrats to conduct rigorous oversight and, more likely than not, impeach Trump again for some of his most blatant high crimes and misdemeanors (and there are a lot of actions to choose from).

So, do you really think that the guy who staged a coup to stay in power after his 2020 election loss is going to allow that to happen now that he has total control of the government?

If your answer is “yes,” then we have a Qatari jumbo jet to gift you that comes with no strings attached… certainly not a security guarantee and an air base in Idaho (seriously, we could have chosen from a dozen examples here, like Trump’s crypto grifts or his various abuses of power)."

Trump laying groundwork for stealing 2026 midterm elections.

Trump Is Laying the Groundwork for Stealing the Midterms - WhoWhatWhy

    excerpt:

"The Supreme Court is dominated by right-wing justices who seem willing to find a justification for anything this administration does, no matter how unconstitutional it is.

The Department of Justice does not even pretend to be impartial anymore and instead has become a political weapon that Trump wields at will.

And the GOP-led Congress is not only rubber stamping anything the president wants, it’s also just looking on while he usurps powers the Constitution grants to the legislative branch."

    https://thehill.com/homenews/5572539-legal-experts-question-trump-settlement/

    excerpt:

When Congress passed the FTCA, it turned that power over to the executive branch, which pays any settlements out of the Judgment Fund — a pot of indefinitely appropriated funds to pay court judgments and settlements in suits against the government.

“Because Congress has given the power over to the executive branch, it is an executive branch decision,” Figley said.

Rahmani agreed there’s “no legal recourse whatsoever” to challenge any decision to settle with Trump.

“They can be heard politically, but legally, there is no process whatsoever for a taxpayer or a representative in Congress to challenge a bona fide settlement,” Rahmani said.

Timothy Mellon reportedly is the person who donated $130 million to the Pentagon to pay military employees during the government shutdown.

Mellon is a billionaire and owner of Mellon Bank that is based in PA. He is a longtime Trump donor.

Stephen Miller Is an Immigration Hypocrite. I Know Because I’m His Uncle.
If my nephew’s ideas on immigration had been in force a century ago, our family would have been wiped out.

    excerpt:

"What does this classically American tale have to do with Stephen Miller? Well, Izzy Glosser is his maternal grandfather, and Stephen’s mother, Miriam, is my sister.

I have watched with dismay and increasing horror as my nephew, an educated man who is well aware of his heritage, has become the architect of immigration policies that repudiate the very foundation of our family’s life in this country.

I shudder at the thought of what would have become of the Glossers had the same policies Stephen so coolly espouses— the travel ban, the radical decrease in refugees, the separation of children from their parents, and even talk of limiting citizenship for legal immigrants — been in effect when Wolf-Leib made his desperate bid for freedom. The Glossers came to the U.S. just a few years before the fear and prejudice of the “America first” nativists of the day closed U.S. borders to Jewish refugees. Had Wolf-Leib waited, his family likely would have been murdered by the Nazis along with all but seven of the 2,000 Jews who remained in Antopol. I would encourage Stephen to ask himself if the chanting, torch-bearing Nazis of Charlottesville, whose support his boss seems to court so cavalierly, do not envision a similar fate for him."

Erie, PA undecided over Trump as it reels from economic injury.

Pennsylvania city divided over Trump as it reels from economic whiplash

    excerpt:

Railing against “waste, fraud and abuse” in Washington, Trump has put on hold numerous federal programs. Erie’s food bank, Second Harvest, has lost $1m that would go towards food purchasing, or about 25% of their budget, due to such funding cuts, its CEO, Gregory Hall, said.

Meanwhile, need for their assistance has only grown, climbing 43% in the past two to three years as food prices rose and local grocers went under. A deadlock in the state legislature over approving a budget, which began in July, has only worsened the financial situation.

“It has been a plethora of different funding cuts, different programs canceled, that is truly having an impact on not only the amount of food, but the types and quality of food that we can provide to the neighbors in our region,” Hall said.

    https://www.politico.com/news/magazine/2025/10/25/trump-venezuela-monroe-doctrine-00618322

    excerpt:

"McKinley’s mercantile patriotism — his oxymoronic blend of tariff walls and territorial aspiration — resonates uncannily in Trump’s own rhetoric today. The “Trump Wall of steel and tariffs” may have been marketed as an opioid of the masses, but its underlying purpose — to manufacture a protective perimeter while refocusing America inward — delivers the same sermon as McKinley’s tariff gospel. Both men saw protectionism not as retreat but readiness: a way to make America the secure base from which expansion could again proceed.

That is the part of Trumpism that much of MAGA simply does not understand and thus fearfully misinterprets."

The donors for Trump's ballroom sound like the same people who were standing in two rows behind him during his January 2025 inauguration.

Not a struggling farmer to be seen anywhere.

Leavitt Says Trump Can Tear Down Jefferson Memorial if He Wants

    excerpt:

"A list released by the White House on Thursday showed those donors include tech companies Amazon, Apple, Meta and Google; wealthy individuals such as Blackstone chief executive Stephen Schwarzman and construction executive Paolo Tiramani; along with crypto kings such as the Winkelvoss twins."

Trump chickened out enough that China says it will start buying American soy again.

Trump says he won't add 100% tariffs to China.

After the saber rattling, the situation is like what it was before Trump started another one of his trade wars with China that jolted the markets. He will now claim he won the tariff war (like he 'won' the 'water wars' in California)..
