Ok. So I LOVE MOVIES!!! a ton. and right now, especially, i'm in this huge horror movie kick. today i rented 20 (not even kidding) DVDS, with the intention of watching what i can in the next 24 hours, and burning the rest. However, as soon as I got home and tried to start burning them, all but 3 of them came back as "copy protected." total crap! i know there is a program called HandBreak for Macs, but I have a regular PC. What else is out there that I can use to override that?

I would say if you can get a copy of the program dvd x-copy use that, but is hard to find because it makes it really easy to break copy right laws.

or DVD Decrypter which is free that you can download off the internet, which also works well.

I've used smartripper with no problems before... Hear a lot of good things about dvdshrink but haven't had occasion to try it yet (that might all change soon - we're thinking of getting netflix!) :D

My vote is DVD Decryptor plus DVD Shrink. Get the best of both programs.

Sorry-Didn't finish what I was sayin-I use this program called Convert X to DVD -this converts the fileto dvd format then burns to disk-To remove css protection use a small program that runs in the background stomping a little of Tom Cruises next billion-It is called DVD43-Another option is a to get EZ DUB -it will copy files or just back up one disk to another-that is 80.00-1Ckick DVd Copy Pro is 59.00 I believe and they give you another free bonus program with it called Copy To DVD-their tech support is the best I have ever seen-they are very good and get back to you that same day -alot-well worth the money-simple to use and very effective-Be sure to use good blanks-Sony-Maxell etc-good luck

Adderall-I gotta say that switching from Limewire to Bit Comet has made my life a little easier and way less frustrating-I should have made the switch long ago-I paid for Limewire Pro and spent way too much time waiting for the thing to find sources-I would say for videos' Limewire is a slow train where Torrent is a fuel injected funny car-Now I need to shell out a little more money and step up to cable-Dsl is just not fast enough for these downloads-I've checked out most of the torrent sites and their great-Much bigger library to choose from on everything-and the price is right-Free!-Thanks for the advice on that one-

DVD Decryptor and DVD Shrink are good programs. Shrink does a good job of shrinking a commercial DVD to fit on a writeable with little loss in video quality.

A burner such as Nero is needed to actually burn the files that Shrink makes.

I tried both of those before ending up with Convert X to DVD-there just seemed to be too many changes involved and although it's not free: Convert X makes the process simple to do-It does the converting and then the burning and it's a one step process-just locate the file and it does the rest-The DVD 43 is free and runs silent in the background-ya never hear from it at all-it just sits there and removes copy protectors-nice!-But' whatever works for ya is what's best I guess-Right now I'm trying to find the filters on Bit Comet-I'd like to filter out most of the porn-I love women but don't need to have that in my face every time I search for files-Way too much porn on the p2ps-anyone know how to set the filters on there?

Some people seem to get confused by DVDShrink. It's not the simplest one to use. I like it mainly because it gives good quality video when shrinking it down to fit on a writeable. It can do a deep analysis of the video and compress it in a way that maximizes the quality.

Shaggie-It's been a while since I tried that program. When you say" to fit on a writeable disk"' Im not sure what you mean. Do you mean it compresses the file to allow for more data on the disk?-Like mp3?-If so' it would be nice to fit a 2 dvd set (parts 1 +2 ) on one disk-The media I use now are Maxell DVD-RW They hold 4.7 GB which is plenty for all but the 2 disk sets-

Hey, I though DVD X Copy was forced to stop distributing by the courts. Or did they just make them neuter it?

You are correct but you can goto Limewire.com and get the cracked versions. Since it was a website activated program and since the website page to activate is obvioulsy no longer there, you need the cracked versions. Most is a simple task of a seperate file that has a set of icons that you copy and then go into the 321studio files and paste.

Shrink will scrunch a two-layer disc down to a single writeable. I haven't tried doing multiple discs with it. Others have said that they have taken titles from two different discs and combined them onto one disc using Shrink.
