Forget the current doomsday reports - I have known for years this Planet could not support 6 billion plus humans - we have stunk up the joint and now we pay with our childrens lives - The dinosaurs were dumb they only lasted 160 million years cause they lived in a balance with nature and a balance between predator and prey. See'ya.
The World isnt going to end anytime soon. the only way the world is going to end soon is if Nasa Does not do anything about the asteroid on corse for Earth in like......80-100 years.
Im afraid eavesdrop is pretty much on target. Enjoy life. You never know about tomorrow, now more than ever.
2012 baby. In the year 2009 Iran will have its Nuclear testing and first nuclear bomb ready for launch. So I can imagine a few things will happen. Tighter security, national id cards(pfft why not just bar codes on our necks?), more presence in foriegn countries we'll be trying to control them but only creating more havic, getting rid of the middle class because of job loss and only the wealthy and poverty like mexicans are in america, then it'll turn into a superstate and well it'll already be a policestate. Martial law will probably be declared. And we'll try to take over everything with other countries like Great Britian, France, basically any country with ties to the New World Order. Yah charish the days people.
Hello there. I know that where not really a civilization which knows what it is doing but I think that this doomsday talk is over the top. I personally think that the overpopulation will solve itself eventually by higher productivity etc. We just need to make sure that each and everyone is doing their bit for a sustainable future. Thats my opinion. Fabian
Not necessarly true. A Tsunami is a giant ocean wave, or waves, that often occur after a major earthquake with an epicenter that is located on the ocean floor. The reason why the Indian Ocean tsunami was so bad is because it was hit by a earthquake with a 9.1 on the richter scale and not only was the epicenter right on the ocean floor the earthquake happened extremely close to the surface so the ocean floor didnt have much impact on softening the Primary Waves and Second Waves nor the surface waves that followed the earthquake. If you know anything about Earthquakes a 7 is considered to be large, if you go up to an 8 its 30 times as strong as a 7, if you go up to a 9 then its 30 times larger then a 8. So a 9 is essentially devistating. So I wouldn't say its an indication for doomsday.
Or maybe the population phobics will convince the gullible to eliminate the supposed "surplus" population by slaying one another, something like what people were doing in the days of Noah, before they so ticked off God that God flooded the entire world, well except for a few 8 righteous survivors who had faith enough to endure ridicule and build the Ark. Human population growth naturally accelerates technology growth, which in turn helps support ever larger human populations. Yeah, it sorts itself out, but the population phobics with their small overeducated idiot minds, think they have it all figured out, when humans quite often don't know quite so much as they think. Nature seems so unable to keep human populations "in check," because that isn't the role of nature. God gave dominion over nature and other creatures to man, and so man is able to alter nature to better support his burgeoning numbers. So is man supposed to then, keep his burgeoning numbers "in check," since nature is so unable to do that? Not at all, for God commanded people to be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth. So such profound decisions are reserved to God, who clearly stated that humans are to multiply, and as my sister said, that commandment has not been rescinded. If gullible humans who don't read their Bibles even can't be convinced to "Stop at 2" or whatever anti-family nonsense, there is a clear way that room can be found or made for so many people to have some place to live. Let the various villages, towns, and cities, grow larger and closer together, as rising human numbers necessitates expanding human range and territory, to mitigate or reduce "overcrowding" while still inviting the human race to enlarge its numbers, which we still have so many compelling reasons to encourage and allow, as more and more people would be glad to live, and people just have to have their precious little darling children--blessings from God. What's a little urban sprawl compared with the wonderous gift of life from God? Cities only occupy but 2 or 3% of the land. It could be more. BTW, in a world with so many people are there are now, wouldn't it be prudent to find ways somehow to be deliberately fond of people? Hold doors open for people, be patient, be kind, be considerate. All the more reason for the social graces, since there are so many people all around. That's a very practical reason to be a pronatalist in these modern and populous times. Make the best of things. As they say, when life gives you lemons, make lemonade.
the ecoystem isn't a giant scale, where one side can become unbalanced, it's more or less a nexus of cause and effect that is largely self regulating. if one thing becomes too common, other things that prey on it come out of the woodwork. i also am curious to when exactly the planet was balanced. was it when all the plant life caused the 02 in the atmo to spike and the earth caught on fire periodically? was it the handfull of times 99.9 percent of biodiversity vanished? balance is a human invention, with little to no basis in reality. it's also funny how much we talk about over population when for the first time in history we have food parity (enough food for everyone, the only problem is logistics). or it could be a relatively common natural phenomenom.
Yeah, "balance" is often humans trying to impose their small ideas of how they think that nature should supposedly work. Other things that prey upon it come out of the woodwork? That's because they already exist and have merely to multiply their numbers at the new superabundance of "food." Humans are far different, partly because having dominion over nature and other creatures given to us by God, we are already at the top of the foodchain. We eliminate or seriously reduce any dangerous animals that might carry off our children. If we aren't powerful enough, we come after bears or dinosaurs or whatever, with organized military planning, spears, guns, whatever it takes. Yeah, I think that forest fires could be a form of a "balancing" force, ridding the air of excess oxygen pollution buildup. But since forest fires are inconvenient to man, we are replacing that force with more "controlled burns" of the form of furnaces to heat our homes, cars, factories, power plants, etc. And we like the "balance" that that helps bring, helping to enlarge our own numbers, and make nature less wild, more tamed, more human-friendly, and more predictable. But I still don't think that forest fires are cost-effective to fight, out in "the middle of nowhere" where they don't much affect people anyway. It's a waste of money to fight forest fires, out in roadless wilderness where people don't live anyway, when nature didn't seem to need our "help" to manage them before? Oh, but one of the trendy "overpopulation" theories claims that we have too much food, which helps fuel "wild" population growth in the animals kingdom at least. Gee, you would think that the population phobics would make up their minds which one to worry us about, too little or too much food? Does one cancel out the other? No, the problem more is, that people and countries and corporations are greedy, and they design economies designed more for the benefit of the elite few, rather than the populous many. Technology growth itself is largely population-driven, and I think it accelerated so much, because the population numbers recently grew so much, and with more population and more technology, come all the more options for better supporting larger and denser human populations, more comfortably and safely. Like you say, logistics is a big part of the problem, but more accurately, poorly designed selfish government and economics. There is plenty to go around for everybody, but not very good access to worthy and decent jobs for the people to do, to earn their purchasing power. Well I think that earthquakes, tsunami, volcanos, are caused by radioactive decay within the earth, building up trapped heat until some "release" occurs. Fortunately, the earth changes, but not all that fast, usually. But we humans like for nature to be more tame, and not for the earth to shake. Something about our preference for human-friendly "balance," whatever that is supposed to be.
Casie, And you know this to be true because? evidence of any kind? Or maybe you just wanted to rant. I thought that you were using 2012 because that is the year that the Mayan calender ends. the mayans were an interesting culture that more or less just disappeared many centuries ago, they were not high-tect but used an inner spiritual technology that they used to transcend time. 2012 is the time when our sun will be in alignment with the center of the galaxy, which may bring more energy into our system and bring another time of transcendance. want to know more?
Actually, symbiosis would be a somewhat more accurate term to describe the human relationship with our environment. symbiosis
Pronatalist, you are way to cool, I clicked symbiosis that you provided and poof there was the defination just like that. could you tell me how to post quotes like you did above?
Make quotes? Click the Quote button, and it puts it in the editor for you. Sometimes I do nested Quotes. Those are more tricky, requiring extra typing and Copying/Pasting. Or did you mean my definition link? Just open another browser window to dictionary.com. Type in the word to look up. When satisfied that it is the word you want, copy the url from your browser window top. Now come back to your Hipforums posting window, and type what you want to appear with the underline under it. Highlight it, and click on that little globe icon with the little chain. It will ask for the url. Paste it in. If you want to do stuff like that, depending on the forum and your browser compatibilities, either learn some basic HTML, or mouse over the editor links, and sometimes they will tell you a name for what it does. Play around with them, when you need to do something cool like that. Sometimes for a feature not fully supported by the editor that comes up, you can patch it in with the right manual HTML tags. Check Preview Post if necessary, to see if it looks okay before posting.
The residents in our community are fed up with young, intoxicated dinosaurs crashing through our homes and nursuries, then simply carrying off our children, to abuse, torture, eat, or whatever. We advocate increased funding and public awareness towards dinoceptive education. Dinoceptives are a new kind of contraceptives, designed to prevent the dreaded: DINOSAUR OVERPOPULATION. Quite frankly, the residents in our community are shocked to discover massive numbers of dinosaurs (a species once thought long extinct!) living practically in our backyards. If the dinoceptive measures fail to reduce dino numbers (and protect our sacred children), we call for a campaign of organized military planning, with spears and guns, to kill all the dinosaurs we don't like. We all agree, however, that because baby Triceratops is so damn cute, we will let them live until adolescence. It might seem cruel to impose some arbitrary cap on dinosaur population size, but how much longer can we allow these reptilian relics to continue disrupting our comfortable balanced lifestyles? We might also consider putting the more useful dinos to work in our fields (without pay, or course). Surely the dinos will see that living under our dominati... sorry, dominion is much more comfortable than having to worry about rain, fires, storms, earthquakes and tsunamis. They will surely thank us for introducing them to the very pinnacles of human culture: fast food and television.
