Too me i laughed my ass off. AHHA that movie was so funnny.. fuck me fuck me and when she did that walk down the stairs.. I call it the crab walk it she looked like a fucking crab.. funny movie.. peace chickens
when i saw the name of this thread i was just going to open it and post that it made me laugh my ass off. it's hilarious to me that people find that scary.
Its definatly one of the scariest films ever made. The reason some people find it funny is usually because of their ignorance for the story and also human nature. because i think almost anyone would be scared, if that was to really happen. If youre sitting there not toally consentrating on the film..and possibly watching with a few friends, talking a bit and laughing, of course youll find it funny. If you really concentrate on the film, theres great depth in it, regardless of if you find it scary or not, at least take it seriously, as in its not a comedy film. unless youre too young an immature to comprehend that. and please dont think im saying that you two are.
I think young people are so desensitized by violence in movies that a movie like this, that was really groundbreaking in the 1970s doesn't satisfy thier bloodlust. The fact that it was based on a real story is even more scary. I saw it in the late 70s, I had a Rosary in my purse, and I stared at the floor the whole time. I couldn't look at her.
i found it funny because i don't think it was well done. i'm a lot younger than it and to me, it doesn't look scary. i did watch and paid attention. i refuse to have anyone talking when i watch movies, especially horror. Because i like to emmerse myself into a film. its like when i watched rosemary's baby. i understand at the time it was considered a scary movie, but it isn't scary to me.
rosemarys baby isnt scary youre right about that, its one of my favorites. its more acting and dialogue than visuals. i found the exorcist to be very believable and very realistic. everything from the cool heavy atmosphere that the room has to the acting. it was very well done, and thats why its considered the greatest horror film of all time. the film still has the sam power it had when it was first released, thats something alot o ffilms dont keep. its not dated, and it still looks like it could have been made yesterday, kind of like kubricks 2001.
when it was first released people threw up a lot from watching it. my dad told me how when he went to see it there was puke all over in the lobby. i don't think people react that way anymore to it. and i guess if i believed in the devil maybe itd have a bigger effect on me. its a respectable film and i think it was wonderful for its time but if a movie doesn't make me scared when i see it as a child i don't think of it as oh so scary. but i do respect it. and i'm not meaning to say your wrong, just that i view it differently.
i dont think the movies that scary but i dont find it funny either. its a good movie and i dont get scared when i watch it, but sometimes i think i see some demons imprint on my wall in my room....
I find that movie terrifying. I consider myself a horror movie expert, and I haven't found one half as scary as the Exorcist. Maybe it's because I read a book on true case files from a demonologist. If you read that book I garantee you will think about that movie differently. A few of my friends who never really gave the demonic a second thought read it and now it scares the shit out of them. so I agree that if you really understand the severity of the movie and the concept of playing with pur evil it is very very scary.
The movie blowed 10 kinds of ass! After reading the book, I decided to watch the movie thinking I was going to get something really good....WRONG! The book is so much better, AND it's more scary. A lot more graphic and such. I giggled all through the movie, but with the book, I couldn't put it down and was mesmorized at how...eerie the book made me feel.
I hate that movie, it's not scary to me either. I'm not religious though, I'm sure that has a lot to do with it. I hated Rosemary's Baby even more. It was boring. They are both stupid- yeah it's real scary when some kid swears and wants to have sex, etc...blah. Typical religious crud. No offense.
No the book was called beware the night. It's written by a cop in NYC that is also a demonologist. Scary shit man
Shit dude... The movie wasnt scary. I sat through the whole thing by myself in the dark at 1:30 in the morning and was bored stiff. Then I got some friends over and we freeze framed some of the faces. It was quite funny
Laety, i know you have good taste in art, but this time im disapointed in you. as i said before, not everyone would find it scary, but its still a great horror film. thats not just my opinion, thats a fact.
Thank god someone else found that movie funny. They rereleased it in Austria a few years ago with added scened that they had cut out and my cousin and I went to see it...and got thrown out for laughing too loudly. For some reason we both just found it hilarious. The scariest part was the part with the needles, and that's not even meant to be scary!
