My teachers aid position is up till september. So I need a summer job. I looked ad nausea Saturday and Sunday, for hours. Than I submitted applications Monday and Tuesday. Been waiting, and will start following up on those tommorrow. Looking for a job sucks, anyone else wanna complain? Two people have called back. I have a one hour audition and have to submit a cover letter and resume, even though I already submitted an application , what else can I mention that wasn't mentioned in the application? I have been rejected once already. which is odd, I want to call back and see why, it was a camp counseleur job. I have experience with kids already. But I did not mention that my mom runs a daycare and I have been around that all my life. So maybe it was lack of experience? But I want to call back anyways. Anywho, this is a thread for people who are jobless and maybe want to bitch or cheer each other on! But If you have a job and are in this thread what are some tips or tricks you use to land the job, with your application, resume, ect that you have found unique?
Pardon my intrusion into this thread- as of this typing, I'm gainfully employed; What are your areas of expertise/experience? Brush up on your interviewing skills- you seem well spoken- that will work in your favor. Any good interviewer is looking for more than "all the right answers"; they are looking for indications of character... someone only furnishing what they feel is the "right answer" and fails to actually engage on any social level will not make a particularly positive impression. Be relaxed. Granted, it's only a summer job; but it can be experience to be added in future resumes- and you're cultivating not only work but character references. On the topic of work advice... try to hold a position that you like- that you won't dread spending eight of your waking hours doing daily. It'll be much easier to be remembered as having a good attitude and easy to work with. Good luck.
I need a job too. My current job doesn't pay me nearly enough to feed me not to mention pay the rent and the bills. Booo. Job hunting sucks.
I need a different job. My options are construction, painting, roofing, and landscaping. Ehhh.... wait a sec, I think I'll stay working in my chill greenhouse.
OMG-There's this summer camp in Maine that pays pretty well. Two people I work with who don't get summer hours are flying over there this summer to work there. I can find out the info for you if you want? It's like a residential science summer camp for kids.
I would like a different job...I hate supervising people, HATE IT. I am soooo bad at it and feel like all I do is time cards and all of the sites have gone to crap since I took over my region. I want a job in Nevada, but if that doesn't happen I am going to take up an offer and be the spokes person for a drug free north county....yeah you read right
I need a job too. I feel like my only options are restaurant or retail, and I don't want to do either.
i would have a job if the lady hired a hard-working someone with a 3.0 and not someone that's on every fucking sports team imaginable....just because i don't have a 3.2 doesn't mean i wouldn't have been respectful and dilligent...GAH! I HATE THAT WOMAN! That is the only person i seriously despise...and FUCK HER if i'm not smart enough...FUCK HER if i couldn't possibly make an ice cream cone because i don't have a 3.2....grrr.
that sounds amazing! anything you could send would be cool, as I continue the search. last summer it took me seven to ten days (can't remember exact amount) of looking and many hours each day before landing a job. This year is looking the same. though I took the weekend off, unlike last year.
Yeah, I need a job too. I'm probably going to get one this summer, but I don't know when... Most places here don't let you do much until you're 16, and I won't be 16 until late July... If I get a job now it'll have to be a job that'll allow me to take two weeks off at the end of July for a trip, and who knows if they'd be willing to let me to do that as a new, young employee? Maybe I'll just wait 'til August. Bleh. I need one now though.
I hear you on that. Sadly, its something we have to get use to. of course we feel qualified abd probably are hard workers.. but it is the employers loss. sometimes it seems like they set the most ridicuolous standards. And a lot of jobs, you really do have to have a certian personality to work at. KR At this point, I would take the DQ job.
I'll find out from her tommorow and will pm you when I get home. Both chicks seem really happy there during the summer.
i had a friend who already worked there in she put in a good word for be before i applied. when i had my little interview i just said this would be my first real job other than babysitting so i have no experience whatsoever but im a fast learner lol and i live nearby so ill never be late
i always get a job when i start hesitating if i really need it... try this and you'll get an appropriate one
I've been looking for a job for months and I really need to find one fast before all the high schoolers are out for the summer.
That's almost as ironic as the situation my ex-coworker is in. He's a major distributor of heroine in the area and he's also getting ready to graduate college to be a drug and alcohol counselor. Also, I am intruding as well seeing as how I don't need a job. I make more on unemployment than most people I know make going to a real job.
