In my town of 200,000 people i have only seen one emo. Everybody makes a big deal out them as if they are a plague(well that one emo did seem pretty pathetic) thats out of control. I go to high school and there no emos. Just a couple of semi gothics who will cut off your testicles if you even hint that they are emos. So where are they? Are they in big cities? Do people just over exaggerate about em do have something to make fun of?
Follow the sound of My Chemical Romance or a similarly shitty band (they all sound the same), and you will find a pack of emos brooding and moaning on about their pathetic existence.
labels and steriotypes are just that... labels and steriotypes. Most people realize that highschool quit becoming relevent once they walk off that stage. I was out of highschool when I started hearing about Emos, but I felt sure if you crossed a goth with a band nerd you got Emo.
I always thought emo was a cross between goth and grunge. Anyway, I like the look, can't stand the whiny wannabes who cut themselves with paperclips.
Which is ironic cuz if you actually ever listened to MCR you would know they are not emo. They don't sing about how much life sux or about commiting suicide. They are actually kind of positive. Nirvana is more emo than MCR. Too many people judge musicians by their image instead of their message.
Lmao. I live in the burbs and theres none here! Just a lot of mexicans. Who, depending on how long their family has been in america, is worse than emos. At least emos are quiet. The hispanics wont stop talking in spanish. such an ugly language. I really wish i could edit the name of the thread to "The Invisible Wristcutters"
all kinds of emos at my kids high school---most r bi--i dont know what that means--havnt noticed alot of cutters among them-----but speaking of cutters i met a chick at Magic Mountain and she had cuts on both her arms all perfectly horizontal in a row along both arms--my god it was such a turn on she blushed when she saw how big my eyes got she knew it was turn on for me--ii got all tongue tied and couldnt speak she was interested and i should have made a move or at least started a conversation with her--its a regret i have to this day--does that make me weird?
Not all emos cut themselves. Not all people who wear black are emo. Not all people who cut themselves wear black and are emo. Self harm is a serious issue in youth, and society in general. It's very sad and upsetting, and people who say it's stupid and for attention need to really look at what they say because it can do damage. Of course I know that sometimes it is for attention, but all that proves is that the self harmer has some psychological issues. Calling them stupid and putting them down does nothing to help the situation. It can be hard to understand why someone would want to physically hurt themselves, when you're happy and healthy yourself, but that doesn't give you the right to call them pathetic. You may think that "emos" want to single themselves out and isolate themselves from society. But don't push them away.
Most people don't understand why someone would feel a need to inflict physical harm on themselves. And, to quote the great Carmine Falcone, people always fear what they don't understand. Hence the disdainful and alienating behavior. It's quite the vicious cycle. Having said that, though, I think the whole emo thing is pretty gay.
I wasnt calling them pathetic in general, just the one. Hes an attention whore who magnifies his problems tenfold, makes sure to let everyone know how much difficult his life is than theirs, and tells everyone hes gonna kill himself. I find this pathetic. I wasn't putting them down, but rather asking where the hell are they? Has the emo fad faded away? I like old emos. EMOtional. Like back in the days of The Cure. Now emo is a black bang haircut and tight jeans.

I wasn't talking to you directly. When I say "you" I'm not directing anyone in particular. Sorry about that, I wasn't trying to attack you or anything. The person who you're talking about is what I was talking about when I said they do have issues. To make up stories and do that kind of thing shows you that he does have emotional problems.
"A lot of people don't realize that depression is an illness. I don't wish it on anyone, but if they would know how it feels, I swear they would think twice before they just shrug it.."-Jonathan Davis
It's true. I wouldn't wish depression on my worst enemy.. Even though I don't really have any. By this quote I think it's pretty clear that we've got the same kind of understanding.
