Commercial or not.. Talent or no... The Monkees did push a certain psychedelic vibe on the young American public and made it acceptable not only to them but their parents as well.

 

They were very commercial and obviously also had some talent too. I don't care about commercialism myself, every band has to take the chance sometimes to get themselves heard. It's just that offset makes ridicilous generalizations about commercial bands yet seems to dig them in other threads. Felt like pointing the hypocrisy out.
