hey, i was just looking for some info about this. I use a condom, but i'm wondering about backup plans for if it breaks, or some of my soldiers miracuously make it through the latex and the spermicide. lol. what exactly does the morning after pill do? and how long is it effective for? is it literally just the morning after, or will it work for a few weeks?

Yay you for using a condom!!
condoms are about 99% effective and sometimes things can happen, the morning after pill isnt a form of controception at all, its for an emergancy basically, if the condom was to split, if you didnt use one etc then yes go and get the morning after pill, it is effective for up to 72 hours (3 days) the quicker its taken after sex the more effective it is!
the morning after pill stops the sperm joining the egg basically, it is only effective for the time you had sex, by that i mean if you where to have unprotective sex on the friday and go and get the morning after pill on the saturday and take it then, and then have sex again saturday it wouldnt work for the saturday!! does that make sense?
Your best bet to make sure you dont have any babies is to get your girlfriend to have a chat to the family planning clinic, or GP and talk about going on the pill. Hope that helps x
