do you think its abortion???????? or just another form of birth control...... thoughts?? the religious right and the republicans sure are going after this pill...... they claim its abortion...... I guess it happens after the sperm fertilizes the egg, right?? but the pill makes it hard for the egg to grab hold onto the wall of the uterus....... so the fertilized egg just gets flushed out of the system...... is it an abortion, though??
I don't see it as an abortion. The pill, if we're talking about the same thing, needs to be used within 3 days of the incident. I would take this to mean that it is not necessarily after the sperm fertilizes the egg; especially since the pill is a safety procaution in case the sperm fertilizes the egg. If any of you guys have been as dumb as I have when having sex at times you'll know first hand that there's no guarantee sperm will reach and fertilize the egg
I don't feel that it is abortion. But then again, I'm not religious or a republican... They are still pissed that women can vote...
right ganjaking.... I figured it was like a day after pill, and of course its no guarantee that sperm will reach the egg....... some arent very excellent swimmers....... but mine, on the other hand, are the mark spitz's of the single celled world
I'm not ganja bud While yours may be excellent swimmers, mine certainly aren't. Either way it can't be abortion unless it's proven that the egg has already been fertilized.
Its not abortion because there isnt anything to abort The morning after pill prevents the release of an egg from the ovary, preventing sperm and egg from uniting. Its not effective at all once a fertilized egg attatches itself to the uterus aka the start of pregnancy.
That's irrellevant when speaking of this pill. That's a conversation more intended for typical abortions isn't it? Unless you're insinuating that life starts before the egg is fertilized; which would also mean that I've killed countless civilizations
wait, I thought this pill is used after the egg is fertilized....... it prevents the egg from attaching to the wall of the uterus, but by the time it passes through the uterus, it is fertilized in the ovaries and IM not insinuating that life starts before the egg is fertilized...... yeah, if thats true, then all of us committ mass genocide
We may be speaking of two different pills then. The one alex an I are referring to is commonly known as "The Morning After" pill because it's best used the morning after, and it needs to be used no later than 3 days after the sexual encounter.
It prevents sperm and egg from coming together. So, the egg is not fertilized. But Ive also read that in the chance that the egg has been fertilized, plan B prevents it from attatching to the uterus. Since pregnancy does not start until the egg has been attached to the wall, I dont see the pill as inducing abortion. Like I said, theres nothing to be aborted.
exactly. thats how I feel...... why does the religious right think you are aborting a pregnancy then?
Umm....because they are whack I guess it comes down to when you believe life starts. Maybe they see the beginning of pregnancy as something different than the beginning of life.
I don't feel that the morning after pill is "abortion". For the record, I am not a religious individual nor a Republican. I honestly feel that it's a more humane way of ceasing a pregnancy than having a woman wait until at least 6 weeks gestation for a clinical abortion. Do I think it should be used as a form of routine birth control? No.
LoL... no it is not abortion. That is ridiculous. If anyone would ever say to me that it was I would have to laugh in their face and walk away.
I don't know what the religious right has against abortion, hell 50% of all conceptions end in miscarriages anyway. One could argue - God loves abortions and performs them on a regular basis. Hotwater
