In Islaam, the woman is accorded a high position which she was not accorded in any of the previous religions and which no nation will accord her but Islaam. This is because, the honour that Islaam conferred on mankind is shared by both man and woman on equal basis.[/font] Mankind are equal before rules of Allaah in this world as they will be equal as regards His reward and recompense on the Last Day. Allaah says, “And indeed, We have honoured the children of Adam.”[1] He also says, “There is a share for men and a share for women from what is left by parents and those nearest related.”[2] “And they (women) have rights (over their husbands as regards living expenses) similar (to those of their husbands) over them (as regards obedience and respect) to what is reasonable.”[3] “The believers, men and women are auliya (helpers, supporters, friends, protectors) of one another.”[4] “And your Lord has decreed that you worship none but Him. And that you be dutiful to your parents.
If one of them or both of them attain old age in your life, say not to them a word of disrespect, nor shout at them but address them in terms of honour. And lower unto them a wing of submission and humility through mercy, and say; ‘My Lord! Bestow on them Your Mercy as they did bring me up when I was young.’[5] “So their Lord accepted their supplication (saying); ‘Never will I allow to be lost the work of any of you, be he male or female.’[6] “Whoever works righteousness – whether male or female – while he or she is a true believer (of Islaamic monotheism) verily, to him we will give a good life (in this world with respect, contentment and lawful provision), and we shall pay them certainly a reward in proportion to the best of what they used to do.’[7] ‘And whoever does righteous good deeds, male or female, and is a true believer (in the Oneness of Allaah), such will enter paradise and not the least injustice, even to the size of a speck on the back of a date-stone, will be done to them.’[8]This honour that the woman enjoys in Islaam has no equal in any other religion, creed or law. Roman civilization had had it established that woman should be a slave and a subordinate of man and that she should absolutely has no rights at all. There was even a great conference in Rome where affairs of the woman were discussed.
The conclusion reached at the conference was that, the woman was a lifeless being and as such could not have share in the life of the hereafter and that she was impure.In Athens, woman used to be regarded as a scraps. She would be sold and bought like any other commodity and she was being regarded an abomination of Satan's handiwork. According to the ancient Indian statutes, the plague, death, hell, poison of serpents and fire are all better than woman. Her right to live used to end with the death of her husband – who was regarded as her master. When she saw the corpse of her husband being burnt, she must throw herself into it and if she did not, she would be accursed. As for Judaism, the following judgement was passed on her in the Old Testament. “I moved around with my heart in order to know, search and look for wisdom and intelligence, and in other to know that evil is ignorance and that stupidity is madness. And I found that worse than death is woman who is a snare and her heart is like a shoelace and her hands are shackles."[9] Such was the condition of woman in the ancient times. As for medieval and contemporary times, the following events explain that.The Danish writer, Wieth Kordsten explained the position of the Catholic Church as regards woman when he said, “During the medieval times, the concern that was had for European woman was very limited and this is in conformity with the view of the Catholic creed that used to regard woman as a second-class human being.”
In France, a conference was held in the year 586 A.D. where the issue of woman was discussed as to whether she should be regarded as a human being or not. At the end of the discussion, the discussants concluded that she was a human being but that she was created for the service of man.In French law, article 217 says; “The married woman- even if her marriage is based on separation between her right of ownership and that of her husband- should not give anyone ownership of anything of her property with or without compensation except with the participation of her husband in the transaction or his written consent to that.”In England, Henry the VIII prohibited the English woman from reading the Holy Book, until 1850, women were not considered citizens of England and up till 1882, they had no personal rights.[10]As for the condition of woman in contemporary Europe, America and other industrial nations, she is regarded as a common creature that should be utilized for commercial purposes, for she is a part of commercial advertisement. This has even reached a situation where she is stripped naked in order to advertise commodities on her body. Her body and honour have become desecrated based on regulations laid down by men in order to make her an object of enjoyment everywhere.
The contemporary woman is an abject of care and attention as long as she is able to give out her wealth, intelligence and body. But when she becomes old and loses her means of giving, the society individually and collectively abandons her and she lives lonely in her house or in the sanatorium.Compare the above – although they cannot be equal – with what the Noble Qur'aan says, “The believers men and women are friends of one another.”[11] “And they (woman) have rights (over their husbands) similar (to those of their husbands) over them.”[12] “And your Lord has decreed that you worship none but Him. Altho I've encountered some predjudice against free speech on this site, I think it is great that Fundamentalists can post their views. Sometimes their posts seem overly arrogant but I have to give them allowances for difficulties in translation. I'm sure this poster is well-meaning. With practice and experience I guess their messages will become easier on the eyes.

 

Yeah, it's nice that they can, but most of it is just copypasted. They never really stay to debate their views.

 

To get along in society it is necessary to respect the right of others to believe whatever they want. Many people are confused on this point and think it means they have to respect everybody's religion. There's no reason whatever why one should listen to such gibberish with a straight face. Doesn't matter if it's Catholic, Muslim, Jewish, or Scientology. When these believers start promulgating their views that are based neither on logic nor observation, it is the duty of any rational person to point out that they are talking nonsense. Hapy, the "honour that Islam bestowed on mankind" is manifested every time your people sever another head, every time they send another kid into a crowd of innocent bystanders with a bomb strapped to his chest. The "honour" that Islam brought mankind was splendidly broadcast by your comrades who brought down the Twin Towers, it's displayed in the kangaroo courts of Saudi Arabia, it's written in the severed limbs of petty criminals, in the torn flesh of young offenders. It's time you realized that the world would be better off without your so-called honour. The sooner you lose that vicious book, the better for all of us.

You think it's the word of God, so join the line of other missionaries, psychotics, and busybodies of all religions who bring nothing but misery to the world. BTW, is that why this idiotic post is in the Writers forum? Because Islam is based on a book? Why don't we have discussions about Betty Crocker, too?

no, you did not do anything wrong,hapy... feel free to write whatever you want...for everyone is doing so...does not matter whether they use a polite manner or not...somehow they believe the muslims are responsible of the terror, thats what is intented, and what else, i dont believe any debates or arguments will make a change...this is a stupidity of ppl to regard such a religion and holy book as a book of crimes, for they have never met any devout one of us, never practised any similar history or training, never shared some lifetime, ...the plan works very wisely, and they managed to provoke the world...and thus we are now labelled as terrorists, inconsidering that there are extremist everywhere in every belief. etc etc...
so i advise you not to take this islam forums much serious... we need time, and time will solve all the problem my brother...let them swear, blaspheme , look over us with arrogancy... the case will come and the truth will be revealed...just there is time for it...not yet, not yet...

 

Ah right, sorry, I got the impression from the copy pastedness of it that it was propaganda, which turns up a lot here. Some guy a while back posted a series of very obviously fake or misconstrued images of western abuse of people. I probably shoulda read the whole thing hehe.

 

Hold on... if I understand correctly:
ISLAM
Women are required to cover themselves and hide their beauty.
Women must be accompanied by a man at all times.
Women can't choose who they marry.
Women are punished for being raped.
Women are only meant to raise children and cook.

 

They worked out a bargain of special rights for each of the sexes the same as other cultures. In America wives have their husbands by the balls.

first sentence...true(due to many beneficical reasons- we may discuss with you privately if u like, for i hate jerks stirring things up when i am on a sincere talk)(but not as the way talibans order,lol.one neednt close her face and hands...its not written in Koran. its interpretation of some sects...and no type of clothing is specified...only rule is not to wear very tight and transparent clothing ,which catches the sexual attention of men)
second sentence, partly true...not always...on long journeys for instance,so as to avoid the disturbance of any ill-willed men,or any unexpected case with which she may not deal easily...
third sentence, thats absolutely false...my prophet has said that one father should let his daughter marry whom she chooses... he must be muslim of course ( due to the protection of the lady that she might be forced to convert or be abused by a nonmuslim- but of course that does not certainly mean that some ignorant ,"said to be" muslims may not abuse her!!!)
fourth sentence, completely false, not raped women, women who behave like whores are punished!!! i know a muslim marrying a raped woman in order to protect her from being abused again

last sentence, partly true...yes their main issue is to take care of the family, it is a selfevident fact that women are best in nurturing and training, not only of the children but of her husband also, carrying out some of the family responsibilities...for the phsychologic health of the family there is a lot to do by women, because they are above men in affection, care etc etc...they can even "train" their husbands, really... but this does not mean they are locked at home!!!they can work, they can earn money, travel etc etc... the first wife of my prophet was a noble woman in Mekka, and also a rich merchant...
there are teacher ladies and nurses in my family...
but as the mangement of household issues may tire a lady, they dont prefer working in heavyjobs... but there are many lawyers, doctors, artists(regarding islamic rules of course)even woman police...
so, what u know about us is not very realistiic...it seems that u only hear the way of those extremists, those taliban, who can never be the represantatives of islam...the rest silent quantity, are people as normal as anyone can be...be sure...
and it is a fact that there is poverty, misery presently, and i believe it to be a cathalysor (!) to push them to be themselves again, not lasy, easy humans...inshaallah...

it means having illegal sexual intercourse,or having sex before marriage...the punishment of those who commit such a sin although he /she already has a legal spouse,is much severe...( well, it is only for muslims, i dont know the fact about nonmuslims)
as to the explanation to the reason why it is wrong,well, are you mocking? it has been restricted either by law or by religions in many societies up to the last century...it is morally, religiously, sipiritually, naturally wrong because it has several bad results, harms both to society and to the person...which one shall i count now...?most important for me is the fact that, ability to faith and goodwill dies by such a sin. too much sex is even unhealthy...tell me why it is not wrong? a woman or a man( ah, men are also punished in such cases as severely as women)cheating his spouse, only following his lusts ,can that be accaptable ? if he/ she does not like and deal with his/ her spouse he/she can divorce and marry another.

not only about sex, any type of extremity is harmful.
there is also a truth that excessive addiction to such things results in dissatisfaction, such comes out demands of group sex, sex with animals, sex with the same gender, etc etc...has that got an end?isnt that evil enough?
what is your definition of the "good" ,and "right" ...is it logical to decide something is good or right according to sensuality...? the explanation of your question is both very simple and difficult. simple because its self evident, difficult because you might be a person who can not decide what the terms "good and bad" stand for, logically...

as to your second question, well,( if i did not misunderstand it),in any society, there are goodwilling and ill willing ppl. in our society for example(i dont mean religion), noone easily wants to mary a raped girl...so, she might be pushed alone this way and she might be abused by any badwilling man, like raping her again or treating her like a whore...u may not understand these facts because we are of very different cultures, and free sex is not welcomed here like it is in your society...so women need to be "protected" ...it is very important for us. what else, Allah has great wrath on the man, abusing a woman, even if they are married. u only see the bad examples of muslims on media...thats not so...in his farewell speech, my prophet(pbuh) said " have fear from Allah about the rights of women...! they are entrusted to you by Allah" " the better amongst you is the one who treats his wife better( more kindly, more rightfully)"...

Who chooses the love in the terms of the ethical reality for fools and kings, for paupers and magnates, for genius's and idealists who will according to the fifth Pillar send you far and wide to deviate if anything because of the Oil Industry.

If you are a woman in an Islamic society, I feel sorry for you, almost. I say almost, because some Islamic women come to my country, Canada, and continue to wear burkhas and head scarves. When they do that, they are propagating their oppressive cultural values. I can't understand why an Islamic woman, given an opportunity to be free, would tolerate her oppressive inherited tradition for more than thirty seconds.
