So, I keep seeing that if we go off the fiscall cliff milk prices will be $8. a gallon. That tells me milk is subsidized at arond $5. a gallon. WTH? Why is milk subsidized? Why is the govt. paying dairy farmers more then their milk sells for at the market? This sounds like socialism. So, Farmers cant make a living without being subsidized? Why? I looked into selling organic milk once. I would be able to cover costs and profit with regular customers w/reusable glass bottles. Peace~
They have agreed on the milk issue and passed the farmers bill so it won't be going up because of congress.
They do this "OMFG, we're going to fall off the cliff" thing every year. And then at the last minute, congress, or whoever, swoops in. They like keeping us scared.
I quit soy and now buy either Flax or Almond milk. Something to do with female hormones in soy. Not very informative here, but you can look it up. Dairy is hugely mucous forming.
I bought some goats when my kids were little and their milk was what we gave them. Supposedly non-mucous forming and better for humans. Owning goats is a laugh a minute. Up on top of the cars--follow you into the house if you let them and unerringly know which are the most valuable plants to eat!
That's not true. This has never happened before. At midnight, all our taxes are going way up. And Congress has lost the ability to "swoop". Our government is badly broken with no hope in sight.
Supposedly goats milk makes the best cheese, but I think it's gross...I don't like milk either - but cow milk cheese is so much tastier. If everyone stopped drinking milk, no more fiscal cliffs - duh
