The white trash morality.

Those same people who in the 70s and 80s, put their children in front of the TV between 7am and 11am to watch cartoons while they smoked cigarettes and talked shit (gossiped) with their neighbours. As long as the child was quietly occupied, they were content.

The effects of this neglect were minimized by good television programming. Educational shows, adressed the young viewer directly and encouraged interaction. School house rocks and Seasame Street have long been replaced by Sponge-bob and Ritalin. At least in the 70s and 80s there were « hippies » trying to educate the children instead of trying to provoke ADHD which ensures continued support of the drug and prison industries.

The white trash of the 70s and 80s now has money ; but they and their neglected offspring haven't learned anything. They take the moral high ground against human nature ; positive physical contact and nudity. Declaring that a child seeing genitalia would be scarred for life ; wilst accepting mainstream Hollywood's nudity provided it is coupled by the violence of rape or the graphic murder of the sexually liberal slut ; reinforcing the belief that sexuality is punishable evil.

All the while, violent video games ; violent programs and films, and vulgare violent music have become « wholesome family entertainment » in their promotion of hyper partriotism and soceital normes.

It is estimated that the average child will have witnessed thousands of murders and has seen more combat than a WWII vet , by his 19th birthday.

Today's middle class white trash is worse than their predecesor. The Internet, filled with pedophiles and propoganda is replacing television as the babysitter. And unlike the television, where content is subject to rules, on the internet everything goes. But these reproductive mishaps let the content providers take responsibilty for the Internet ; prefering to worry about their next cigarette and gossip instead of being good involved parents.

as for "white trash morality," i guess, that is something like the old joke, that asks: what is a white trash virgin?

I thought "white trash" was the white equivalent of "******" (Chris Rock/cultural definition; not the racial labeling).
Not necessarily poor, though likely so; and definitely not just southern.

It's a term or expression like any other that provokes a certain mental image. Today, there is add-on to the term white trash and that is "white trash with money." IE. The middle class white trash.

I don't do political correctness and although I don't like "labels." If you trace the roots of this one, unlike the word ******, it's an expression given to "white trash" by "white trash." (cf. Ebens urban dictionary)

Without a doubt there are some children that are better off raising themselfs. But for a large part, children that are raised by parents that depend on "other" methods of looking after them, tend to grow up into anything but healthy adults. Sadly I've seen too much of this and I thought I would write up a little blurb about them. (And I think what provoked me was an incest theme section on this forum)

No matter how you cut it. There is no substitute for a parent that sits down with their kids and plays or interacts with them.

I can see what you are talking about, Voice... Here in Romania, we have the middle-class folk that are either raising their children with a key around their neck(I've translated this literally), as in the kids raise themselves from a very young age, say 6 or 7, when they are too young to understand some aspects of life, or they are suffocating them, forcing them to do what they want, for example becoming a doctor or some such... I was lucky, because my parents let me chose for myself, they only provided guidance... But I know kids my age that share many of their parents' ideas about society and life in general, having a mentality that should have disappeared more than 20 years ago. Also, the evidence of the neglect is palpable, and will be more so when these kids will have their own kids...

 

I see exactly what you are getting at, votty. I must say, the same has happened here in the UK and probably all over the industrialised world. I posted a list of questions in the UK forum that broach upon this subject, ie moral degradation.

No matter how many people say "huh?" at you or try and take the piss because their own gratification and (virtual) social status is more important than actually consideing the real issues our species faces, I implore you to continue your testifying.

It just shows how lilttle people use their cognative brain functions to not be able to understand your use of the phrase "white trash". In the UK, this is not a phrase that is in common usage ("chav" is the closest thing we have, I suppose) but I still understood what you were saying succinctly. Any misunderstanding pretty much proves your point. People's blind conditioning by said TV and internet makes them say "but dey are not poor, how can dey be white trash? duuurrrr" instead of undertaking the very simple (automatic, you would hope for most adults) analitical and critical thinking to understand the words as they are expressed.

The real problem with the type of child rearing VoT writes of is that each generation does learn from the one previous: i.e. as a child is reared, that’s usually the way their own children will be reared. What a child sees and experiences growing up is what they generally come to believe is an acceptable way of life. Some will break out of the declining cycle and become better parents than their own – that seems unusual.

Too often, kids are growing up with the attitude that the easy way is always the best way, that just getting by is enough, and that whatever happens is the fault or responsibility of others. Such mindset seems to develop as the result of several things all of which fall into the category of less-than-responsible-parenting: unrestricted tv, video games, internet, and music; lack of accountability in any number of scenarios, and on and on….

Unfortunately, so many will continue the cycle and grow into irresponsible adults – teaching their kids (by example) to do the same – who are either unwilling or incapable of caring for their parents when those parents get old.

Children have never been any good at listening to their elders, but they have never failed to imitate them.

 

Fuck everybody. You know what white trash is? White trash is the kind of human scum that is among the lowest of the lowest. I'm not talking political. I'm not talking financial. I'm not even talking cultural. I'm talking about two faced backstabbing liars. I'm talking about people that'll rip you off then offer you prayers for your losses. I'm talking about someone that can ass rape you and then tell you they'll have you in their prayers and they hope you get better.

Raising kids is a unique and individualized job. I knew some kids that were super polite, respectful, and they pulled straight A's, yet their parents couldn't care less about them. OTOH a couple kids I grew up with decades back....their parents dragged their asses to church, force fed them this crap about "just say no" and how to be morally clean. Ha! Some good that did them as two are still in prison.

So, who's the trash now? Which parent? Maybe it's not as much the actions of the parents as it is the responses of the child.

Wow, this thread went from rationally questioning the status quo to being just plain depressing.

 

The problem with the whole argument here is that it is wrapped in vague language, has no objective data, as well as being confusing in philosophical construction. It amounts to nothing more than a subjective rant.

I agree that everyone is entitled to their opinion, but nobody is entitled to their own set of facts. In other words come back with a better constructed argument then you might get a good debate.

 

Television is more stimulating than reading or manual labor. A person who does not want their kid zonning out in the classroom should avoid mind sapping entertainment. Perhaps not have a subscription at all, and keep educational DVDs around.
