I don’t know if anyone else has noticed but over the last few weeks a day hasn’t gone by that I haven’t read about another mass shooting somewhere in the heartland of america Injuries reported in shootings at Conn. elementary school NEWTOWN, Conn. — State police say they are assisting local police with a situation in Newtown amid reports of a school shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School. Police are reporting a number of injured parties, the nature of which are not yet clear. There are unconfirmed reports of two shooters, one dead, one still at large, according to the paper. One child was carried from the school by a police officer. The school superintendent's office says the district has locked down schools as a preventive measure to ensure the safety of students and staff. The superintendent's secretary, Kathy June, says reports of a shooting are not confirmed. State police spokesman Lt. Paul Vance says they have a number of personnel on the scene to assist. The Courant reported that police said a shooter was in the main office of the school shortly after 9:40 a.m. Groups of students — some crying, some holding hands — were being escorted away from the school by their teachers, the Courant reported. A staging area has been set up for students and their parents near the school. According to the local ABC affiliate, June released the following statement: "Due to reports of a shooting as yet unconfirmed, the district is taking preventive measures by putting all schools in lockdown until we ensure the safety of all students and staff. All public and private schools in the town are in a lockdown situation." Hotwater
Occasionally it’s going to happen you’d expect that in a free society, but the sheer number of incidents. Did everyone just simply wakeup in the wrong side of the bed hotwater
There's probably some seasonal correlation bullshit. Plus there's been some serious study into atmospheric factors causing this shit. Altho I'm not sure how valid it was.
I remember when the Columbine High School massacre happen. I was a freshman in High School. The week after, almost every High School in my county had a bomb threat. We were evacuated for hours while the police searched our school.
its a sign of overpopulation. also the more popular the dominance of aggressiveness gets the more likely it is to happen. also the culture of making everything have to be about money contributes to it, and couple that with big income gaps that invariably lead to social unrest.
that's fucked up I also heard about shootings at a mall recently I think what we are seeing is a breakdown in the social contract there is a general "me first and fuck you" attitude that is prevailing in america. if people perceive that everyone around them is going to sink as low as they can get away with, there is tendency for them to do the same
NEWTOWN, Conn. — At least 27 people were killed, including 18 children, in a shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Conn., on Friday, according to reports from Reuters and The Associated Press. The gunman also is among the dead, and, according to an ABC affiliate, is believed to be a parent of one of the students. Many of the shootings took place in a kindergarten classroom, a local newspaper reported. An official who spoke on condition of anonymity because the investigation is still under way told the Associated Press the gunman apparently had two guns. The school district remains on lockdown as police investigate the shootings. There are unconfirmed reports of two shooters, according to a local newspaper. President Barack Obama has been notified about the shooting and will receive regular updates throughout the day, White House spokesman Jay Carney said on Friday. Carney called the event "tragic" and said there would be time later for a discussion of policy implications. Obama remains committed to trying to renew a ban on assault weapons, Carney said. Hotwater
seriously.....what the fuck is wrong with people what makes someone flip from being a normal dad into a monster? Its like the movie theatre shooting...What made that guy go from being an intelligient student to a mass killer? Where is the switch, what are the triggers, and does this mean everyone is capable of that kind of atrocity if their switch is flipped? I just don't know what is wrong with society. Its not limited to America, but it is much more common here than anywhere else. What is it about this society? I'm not a huge fan of Michael Moore's methods, but I think he made a good point in Bowling for Columbine. It is not so much that America is a culture of violence but that we're a culture of fear. Is everyone just walking around so goddamn paranoid of everything and everyone that we're all just waiting to snap? I don't know if this post is very cohesive but I'm kind of flabbergasted right now. I just don't understand....18 children... i just really want to understand what the fuck is wrong with society. What the hell is the psychology behind mass shootings?
There is no single answer to questions like this, other than that we as a species are fundamentally, invariably, and irreparably flawed. To what extent for each individual is unfathomable.
This happened today? No--just fucking no!! Are people feeling so margialized--so put upon-so--I don't know. Little children? Fuck.
Financial strain at home, the holiday season, the feeling he and his kid are not being treated fairly, the feeling he's being singled out for persecution, The feeling of helplessness….etc…..couple that with a recent trip to the gun store and the purchase of a semi-automatic weapon and its time (in his sick twisted mind) for a little payback Hotwater
Ok. Maybe I can make a point about this, going into my "old days were better" mode. You old timers will remember ,for example ,movies from the 40s,etc. Even when someone was supposedly shot, there was no blood shown, not even a hole in their shirt. Hitchcock's Psycho was shocking JUST for showing blood dripping into the tub. No stabbing shown. That continued for years and years in any movie up until ,say, Taxi Driver. I can remember how shocking to many that was .And of course back in the day--there were no computers with the shoot 'em up violence as is available now to society as a whole. Viet Nam was shown live on TV in the 60s with awfull amounts of death and destruction. I don't think that there can be a peace loving nation that drenches it's citizens in massive amounts of horrendous violence in just about all segments of the media day after day after day without there being societal effects. Especially this country, with what seems like constant war showcasing their efficient and decidedly "cool" tools of death that seems to go on forever. They snuk it up a little here and there and now anything and everything goes. This is now what young ones are born into. 'Saw' and many, many others like it are total gratuitous violence that is now standard fare,so why would we NOT expect that those people that are on the edge for one reason or another would react in the way that has been evident and obviously "the way things are done" their whole lives? Must be the way to handle things, right? Somebody pisses you off--fuck 'em--blow a bunch of dildongs away! Kids getting picked on? Blow some assholes away! Neighbor's dog crappin' on your lawn? Blow the bastard away. We are reaping what "THEY" have sown for us. And we just treat it as it's being alright to continue this way. I'm not even saying change it up. Can't un-ring a bell,so it is as it has unfolded.
The little girl in the blue tee's face really really makes me want to cry, those poor children are going to absolutely scarred for life, and the kids who lost their lives too now have no chance at a future. Heart goes out to all the families involved and those poor kiddies who are now going to be shaken for their entire lives
