A lot of things need to come together right for a summer to really be a memorable thing. This year, the main component should be just about perfect. That is the weather. Last year was way way too wet to truly have a great summer... every 2nd or 3rd day was rain, everything was always wet... basically it sucked balls... We have already been crushing records this year all over the place with high temps, and the 'professionals' say that we can expect the whole summer to be hot and dry. In other words, the perfect wether to get shit done and have an awesome time. Pick your spot and go... There are communes and the like all over the place, find one and go. From australia to alaska, from south america to russia and everywhere in between there are places and people just waiting for you to show up and join in. This summer will long be remembered as 'that really hot one', and the stories that will develop over it will become a part of history. The question is, will you be saying, "Oh I was still trying to find the perfect place while I sat and sweated in front of my computer" or will you be saying, "I was there and I did that."
A few years ago I was planning on going backpacking and tried searching the internet for communes I could stay in whilst I was away, but it kept delaying everything. So we just packed up and left and found everything whilst we were abroad.
Thats the part that most people never actually grasp... You can spend years 'looking' on the net, the library, through friends etc... but until you actually get up and go, you will never find the place that is right for you. No matter what is said on the net or through friends or whatever, nothing means anything until you actually show up somewhere and find out if the people there are the type you can get along with. No amount of talking or reading on the net will ever change that. You can 'wait' forever, and never get where you want to be. OR You can get up and go find it. As long as you let people know where you are going and how to get in touch with you, or at least how often you will get in touch with them, you can eliminate most of the risk of going to meet strangers.
Exactly, you need to get out there and make things happen! I hardly ever plan things and often decide on the day to get away somewhere - I have met some amazing people that way. I'm beginning to like you...
and this statement is just a pure bullshit statement that means nothing... how about you just shove your head back up your ass and fuck off now?
Almaniacal is a coined word. I am just suggesting that your pronouncement of a definitively benign future is wishful thinking, all the same, I wish you the best, which is albeit, wishful thinking. The fact is that you will decide at the time, whether the day is good or bad.
And my point was that of course its wishful thinking, in that I do wish it will be this way. That was obvious throughout the whole post. At no point in time did I claim to come from the future with knowledge that the weather was fact. I even said it 'should be' and that the 'professionals say' as qualifiers to it. What I meant by your post meaning nothing was just that, your post added absolutely nothing useful to the thread, it was just yet another place for you to spout your typical bullshit nonsense with the hopes of being noticed. Congratulations, you were noticed. What I meant by the second part of my post was also quite clear.... insert your head (that lump above your shoulderes) into your anal orfice... afterwhich, you go away and try your games with someone else.
My point is, if your pointed head has ears on it is, If you really want to buck up, realize that in each and every moment, this is as good as it gets. This is not the year, this is your life. Whereas I practice yogic asanas, the kind of flexibility you suggest is not personally beneficial to me and I respectfully decline.
If you object to a post on the grounds that it is a ploy for attention without any substantive contribution to the discussion then wouldn't the best response to it be none at all. It wasn't a successful play to get noticed until you dignified it. Congratulations. Yes, the weather does seem to be warmer than usual this year... in years past (last year, notably) the warm spells at this seasonal point lasted a couple days and were quickly supplanted by cool and wet conditions.... not until August did warmer conditions establish themselves for more than a day or two... LOTS of thunderstorms were one happy side effect but no "real" summer. This year has shown a completely different "personality" where the warmth seems less a glancing blow and more of a pattern. If this is any indication the summer heat will be epic... with a good chance of drought conditions in these parts by mid to late summer. My fascination for lightning will have to be quenched either during the transition to heat (now through late May perhaps) or when the weather breaks toward autumn (end of August/September). It'll be nice.
I'm in Seattle, we have not had subfreezing temps since Dec..., the botanical season is well advanced.
Thanks I think the normally driers places are going to be severely hurting this year. Even though there was a lot more flooding in some very odd spots this year, I think it was more due to where the snow had fallen during the winter and not the actual amount, which was less then normal. Up here, it will make the danger of forest fires a serious issue, but beyond that, it will be awesome although it may mean we have to find some patches of blueberries to water... lol With all the rain last year, none of the wild berries of any type did really well around here and it's not like you can remove rain once it happens. We can however make sure what we need gets lots of water and the lots of sun will just make for bumber crops from them... Which means lots of homemade wine
The local huckleberry crop failed the previous two seasons. The real difference that I noticed in the setting of fruit was the ambient conditions during flowering. Both years saw coincidentally unseasonably cool wet weather perhaps incapacitating the pollinators at a critical time.
