I played back in the day. Never online. Made a deck that was never defeated. So after asserting my masculinity in the nerdiest of ways, quit.
i still have my old cards back from high school i had soem pretty gnarly decks that were hard to beat - at least in the circle of friends i played with. then they all started playing yu-gi-oh, so i quit. haha
My great deck consisted of a really equal balanece of the tap to deal one guys. Then I had 8 enchatments (2 different kinds) which let me pay 1 island to untap a creature, put it on the tapers. Had 4 enchants which whenever one of my creatures dealt damage, I gianed control of the creature they damaged. And four enchants which made creatures immune from spells. So basically every turn I could steal as many creatures as I had land for with almost immortal 1/1's. Or I could just untap and deal as much damage to players for as much land as I had. I was so proud.
Wanna hear something really sad? I turned down my ex girlfriend a lot to have card night with the guys. Hehehe. Uh, I was the worst kind of nerd.
i used to have a one inch binder that had $$2,000 worth of high value cards... no mox's or ancestral recalls or anything like black lotus... but medium stuff like dual lands and powerful $50-$120 dollar cards... and i used to kick ass...and take names on a daily basis... but now i am but a pauper...once again...and i dont mind...i sunk a shitload of money in my teenage years into this shit...
damn jerry i usually got most of my cards off ebay, 500 card lots and such i was a split jock/nerd haha played sports and did the chess/MTG thing

yeah, i was a hippie nerd...still am a bigtime nerd... there used to be a shop called the wizards guild in the mall close to where i live...i used to go play the mtg type 1 tournaments once a month when i was 16 and 17 years old...i never won...i mainly went to trade...i remember at one point when i had my 2 grand binder i had two ice storms...back then green land destruction was all but extinct but i had the ice storms from the unlimited set...i had people bidding money on them like an auction...i wouldnt take money though i wanted awesome kickass out of print cards...
yea, i thought of going to soem of the tournaments...but then i realized that was WAY to nerdy for me. i felt pretty uncomfortable at times at chess tournaments kinda like my testosterone was seeping away haha
hah! man i met some real cool people to the point where when the tournaments would happen we'd know each other...smoke a fat jibber, and do some trading...i became an awsome haggler that way...plus im part jew...so ive got that going for me as well...
i kinda exaggerated, but its what i felt at times...especially being a teenager haha. i kinda felt outta place at times. but i did meet some cool people at other high schools.
