Without training, you will have a dog that humps, is possessive over it's food and toys, and might even bite people one day; basically, without training you are allowing bad habits to develop.

So you now have a dog that humps, because you haven't trained it, then you come on here and whine about it; that is fucking stupid.

It's nothing to do with 'ownership'; it's to do with nurturing their instincts. Dogs are pack animals, and they need structure and routine to feel secure, and it is important to them to know their place in the pack. In the wild, they are disciplined by their elders. Right now, your dog thinks he is The Boss, because you are letting him. He owns you, and everything you own. He cares not for your opinion, and if, one day, you attempt to drag him off another dog in the park, there is a good chance he will assert the authority you have allowed him, and bite you.

You should be the Alpha, not the dog; this is a recipe for disaster I have seen backfire on soooo many people.

Training is part and parcel of being a responsible and caring dog owner; if you cannot be bothered to do that, you don't deserve to have a dog...

yeah these threads are not meant for the faint hearted, lol.

 

first of all, i have had her for 5 years, we found her on the side of the road about to die. second i wasnt whining about anything. third, she is too scared from her past (obviously lived in an abusive house for about 8 months) to be agressive towards anything. she also weighs about 15 pounds (little terrier) so she isnt really a threat to anything. and last, shut the fuck up.

 

This just shows how very little you know about dogs.

If she was abused in her past, this will likely make her even more prone to agression in certain situations; dogs like this, when confronted, will often attack out of blind fear. And if pushed, you would be surprised at how much damage a small dog can do; I have seen it happen. My own dog is only around 16lb, but he is strong as an ox, and has teeth like razors; small in stature he may be, but I know full well he would see off any intruder.

I have no idea why you are being so childishly abusive, when all I am doing is offering sound advice (advice which others concur with, you may have noticed)... I guess some people are just naturally defensive. That aggressive attitude will rub off on your dog, too, by the way...

I suggest you grow up fast and get a clue, before you sound off at someone who has had dogs all her life, whose uncle is a professional animal behavioural psychologist, and who clearly knows what she is talking about... It makes you look rather ignorant.

I am only ever aggressive when people are bloody rude for no good reason. Like this guy... I offered advice in a calm and friendly manner, and all I got back was snot.

And what is so wrong with offering a litle advice? I can take it from others, most people can.
