I work at a retail store. I ring up your stupid shit that you are just gonna return the next day. I pick up all the clothes you throw on the floor after you look at, decide you don't want, and discard to the floor. I have to listen to you bastards bitch at me about how you're in such a rush, and you need me to do my job faster. If you're in such a fucking rush then why are you shopping??

You yell at me when your credit card gets denied like this is somehow my fault. I didn't go over your limit, you did dumbass.

Oh and when you cant find a specific item at the store your are in how about you go look in another store or call it yourself? Instead of having me call every T.J. Maxx on the east coast looking for your cheap, desinger knock-offs. I'm not your personal fucking shopper, bitch!

And it's the worst when you pushy soccer moms come in my line, with starbucks in one hand and your husband's credit card in the other. I find it hilarious when you explain to me that the only reason you're shopping at a T.J. Maxx is because of the coach purses we just got in. Because you know I feel so horrible for you, I mean you have actually have to be around the rest of us white trash for 10 minutes before you duck out to your SUV, hoping you nobody you know saw you.

And last but not least a big fuck you goes out to you last minute shoppers. We close at 9:30, so why bother coming in at 9:25?

 

Oy vey... the big big problems of overpaid unskilled labour.

Go out and work picking up sugar cane or pickles on the fields for one day.

Honestly, just one day.

last minute shoppers, eaters, and drinkers always happen in retail and the restaurant business, get over it . it annoys me when people bitch about those who come in at the last minute...

 

Oh give me a break, retail isnt that bad.. I worked in retail for 6 years. Instead of letting all the bs get to you and letting people talk to you rude you just get back at them by being really nice to them, they hate that. It works like a charm. You really can't let someone elses shitty day ruin yours.. just keep a big grin on your face and be confident when you talk to them, instead of insecure because they see that and use it to bitch at you because they can.

 

OVERPAID?? I make $7.80 an hour, and thats .30 higher than minimum wage!

As for picking up pickles or whatever you said, I'll pass. I know working in a sweatshop would suck balls, and it's a lot harder than my job.

But I'm an American teenager so retail is as bad as it's gonna get for me. I dont mean that to sound arrogant, it's just the way it is.

 

Anyway the main reasons for me posting this was to let out some stress after work and maybe make someone crack a smile. Someone who has worked serving the public and knows the types of customers i'm talking about.

 

That sounds shitty. I always try to be be really kind to checkers, especially around the busy holiday seasons where they have to deal with an excess of entitled assholes.

 

so what, everyones life could be worse in one way or antoher. let the kid vent, jeez. just because there are worse jobs out there, doesnt mean that everyon eelses job is perfect

 

Meh? .30 over minimum wage isn't bad.. I worked at Tim Hortons, and that was my sweet raise after a year.
We all have to start somewhere.

 

Is min. wage 7.50 now??? I never really pay attention to that.. I'v always chose the really hard jobs that pay around 15/hr, but I did use to work for 5.15 an hour for a few years back in my beginings of highschool. That shit sucked...

 

Minimum wage is not $7.50 yet, they haven't even gotten close to it and fuck, I'd be VERY happy to make $7.80, since I only make $7 (just got a raise!! Woot!) and can't go any higher than that without taking a management position, which is something I can't even consider until I get a car. Yargh. But I agree customer service blows complete ass sometimes. But what about those ultra cheery people that you get to deal with? I know they certainly perk me up and I usually have about one per day at the very least. If you spend your time focusing on everything that sucks at work, you're not enjoying life to the best of your ability, and it's really a shame to waste it pissed off.

 

Shit, what state are you in? Our minimum wage just went up from 5.15 to 6.85, and that's unreasonably high in my opinion. And as an American teenager retail may suck, but there's still farmwork, fast food, part time at the sanitation department, etc...

you should be happy that your minium wage is so high in indiana its around 5.50 i think. While we're bitching about id like to say how i hated people calling in asking where their pizza is, you know when you call in at 8:00 on a friday its gonna take a little bit to get there. Also people bitching about how their pizzas are undercooked, thats impossible we dont stick them half way through the oven or anything.

 

Minimum wage in Ontario is now $8.00/hr, and it just keeps getting higher.

 

My bad, if your state minimum wage is that high, I wasn't trying to call you a liar or anything, but I know it's not the federal minimum wage because it was in a huge bill that Bush just vetoed, and I've been pretty steamed about it lately.

 

I live in MA. The minimum wage is higher here cuz the cost of living is very high.

 

everything is higher here - new england is the most expensive region to live in so it makes sense for the minimum wage to be higher here. its annoying to here people in states like texas or whatever to complain. shit when i travel im AMAZED about how much stuff is cheaper...from groceries, to clothes, or just about anything else.

All I'm saying is that retail is one of the easiest jobs on earth.

 

You're right it is easy, all i do is ring register and clean up cloths. But it can be a little flustering at times when it gets really busy at the service desk. But I was just bitching about the customers and how ignorant they can be. Not about the work itself.

oh and may I add another thing? People love to poop at the store i work at, especially women. The ladies bathroom always smells like shit even though it's cleaned nightly and has like 3 air fresheners going. I wonder why people can't just take a dump at home, and futhermore why their mother's didn't teach them to flush...
