I wonder how many people take tolerance breaks. If so, can you provide. a. How much you smoke regularly b. How long your break is c. Quality of the high before the break and afterwards. I smoke maybe 3 Js (standard from a rolling machine) a week and don't tend to need one. But over holidays if I smoke more, like 2J's a day for 1week straight, I feel I need 2-3 days of abstinence before I can truly appreciate the high again.
I will take a break about once a month, I don't really have a "system" just when ever I can't get high off of the amount I was getting high off of, I take a few days off.
I take involuntary breaks every so often due to not having a connect at home. I haven't smoked since a couple days before December 11th (except for a really pathetic resin bong pack), and won't smoke until at least Jan 11th.
I take "tolerance breaks" when I have a piss test, which was about once a month, but now I don't have a piss test until february fourth. so I dont really take breaks just for tolerance.
use to smoke a dub a day sometimes more depending on what im doing. i took a 3 month break and now maybe smoke once every 2-3 weeks. i get high as shit everytime guarented. i started doing daily exercise and drinking water and i felt damn good. i finally broke my daily habit. i cant smoke daily anymore. it really fucks with your head, at least it did to me, and my money.
im on a break right now at least until jan 13th when i finially get off probation and prob a month or two longer than that until i get a new job. before this i had smoked around 4-6 times a day since august until i took my previous 8 month break for rehab. smoking a ton for me is the most fun though, i dont like smokin just a couple times a week
I smoke daily, my longest break was involuntary and was only a week and 3 days. I get high as shit off one bowl still, and that happens like 4 times a day . I also match a bunch with friends though so my one bowl means everyone else packs one bowl so we end up getting 3-4 bowls.
I have not been out of bud for three years and I smoke almost every day. The longest I went was like three or four days without smoking. I should take a longer break but I can't come up with a real reason to do so.
ive smoked for nearly a year straight. if there were any breaks they were only a few days. i still get high but i can see me smoking more and more to get high, i should break but i doubt i will.
You guys who haven't taken breaks in a while should try it, seriously. From one pot lover to another, you will thank yourself for waiting 2-3 days. I correlate the length of break to the severity of the habit, so if I'm just smoking one bowl a night steady, I will take 1-3 days off depending on how motivated I am. If it's crazy times and I'm smoking several times daily for a week or so I take like a week break to completely clear the system of thc so that next week I am like a sparkling virgin when she makes love to my receptors
Mr.Writer, we are similar in this respect too. Our rational is proven I think, it makes sense if you consider addiction medicine. Unless of course you're a lucky SOB who gets the same virgin high every time... not fair. I just hate smoking the third joint of the day and not getting much from it, that's why I never really understood Pineapple Express, they smoke and get virgin high's every few hours!
I really don't think THC causes the physiological mechanism that results in tolerance the way other drugs do. IMO, one becomes conditioned to the state of being high, which could be mistaken for tolerance, but isn't really. Not to split hairs or anything...

I agree because after smoking just about daily for awhile I would peak the same as always but then once I peaked it was the same high I'd been experiencing for months so it'd seem a lot mellower after the peak. I'm on a break right now and after the first day of the break I'm on things got a lot easier. It's day 4 right now and I don't really have the strong desire to smoke. I'm not sure when I'll smoke again, maybe this weekend or maybe I'll wait it out until it's been a month and then just smoke a nice big J to the face and have some fun. All I can say is try to draw the line now (while your sober) between use and abuse. If you're smoking 4 or 5 times a day and can't remember your last break it's probably good to do a "progressive break" as I call it: week 1 - don't smoke, meditate if you need to it really lowers the desire week 2 - smoke once or twice week 3 - smoke three or four times and just gradually increase it to a level where you feel you're not building any major tolerance and aren't abusing mary jane.
