no alcohol, no medication or vitamin supplements. my diet will consist of brown rice, beans and lentils, and fresh fruit. maybe a glass of fruit juice. no seasonings added to anything i cook except perhaps a dash of chili powder for a touch of flavor. the only things i wish i wouldnt be getting but will be are meager amounts of salt and sugar from canned or jarred beans. the lentils are dry and wont include that stuff, so i will have those instead of canned or jarred on the day before drinking it. i have an onion, i might use that in the beans. this will be tough, but healthy, and good preparation for the ayahuasca tonight is my last night of being able to consume junk food and drinking alcohol, though i wont overdo it. i have a small quantity of bourbon and a couple peices of leftover pizza. man, i'm kind of nervous. but i think i can do it
probably until saturday. i'm thinking of drinking thursday or saturday, with a slim chance of it being friday. in order for "safety" two or three days would be all i'd need. but its not just a matter of "safety" which is why the diet is SO restrictive. this is definitely beyond what is needed pharmacologically. i would prefer to hold out till saturday, but schedule conflicts may or may not arise, so i'm leaving as many windows open as possible, and i will maintain the diet as needed.
damn, unforeseen circumstances, visitors for a few days, friends, food, drinks this week. gonna have to postpone this by a week i guess! oh well, at least i can take out a chicken to thaw
your nothing but a fucking prick you worthless fuck. you dont even know the guy. hope i see you in austin one day, talk some shit to me and see if you walk away with all your teeth.
let us know how it goes when it does. i definatly feel the need to go back there in a strong way. i really want to find a solid group to drink with though, and someone who knows the icaros. not an easy thing to find in the culture i live in, but im holding that intention like a small flame in a windstorm...close to my heart. blessings to you nesta. been a long time comin no?
a journey, to say the least. i'm surprised at how long it's taken me, but it feels right. odd that this thread should be active today. i am brewing it today, but it wont be consumed for several days yet. possibly next week, as the other option would be this weekend and i wouldn't want to be drinking ayahuasca when all the neighbors are setting off fireworks all night:tongue: i'm sure the ayahuasca will be enough to make me think i just might die, i dont need loud colorful explosions right out my windows lol but yeah, 4 oz of shredded vine and 2 oz of dried chacruna are in the crock pot with nearly a gallon of distilled water, with a little reserved for later on. i chose to do it in a crock pot to avoid too rapid of a boil, because its the only thing i have large enough to brew in, and because i could borrow my friend's stock pot but it's aluminum, which mckenna at least says is reactive and can damage the quality of the brew, mess with potency and such. i dont know if it's true, but i'll avoid risking it
It seems much more meaningful to trip when there's so much preparation. It turns that one night of tripping into a week of ceremony.....maybe not ceremony.....but at least you are thinking about it every so often for a while before you partake. (Aluminium + acidic stuff = bad)
diet sounds healthy---where are you getting your ayahuasca-i really wanna try the shit bad but on the discovery channel they snort the shit with all kinds of green shit coming out their noses---so brewing is better? do i just look online for the shit---peace and hope u have a good trip--and whats dried chacruna--so 4oz plus 2oz = a "good" trip send me a link where i can do some research on this stuff--please---thank u---does it make u puke--im gonna follow your receipe i have very much experience with psychedelics but none with the vine--if its salvia like i dont want it--does it produce euphoria or more used for divination and magic---do u completly lose yourself or do you know who or even what u are--sorry 4 all the questions but i know its been used tribally for centuries--and i think it has magic properties-----last question how long do you brew? im gonna do my research but if you could help steer me in the right direction TIA
well what you saw on tv was probably a psychedelic snuff used by indigenous people containing DMT and/or 5-MeO-DMT, such as yopo. but ayahuasca is named after the vine from which it is brewed, and as far as i know is virtually always something one takes orally. both have downsides if one is looking for something recreational. the snuffs are very uncomfortable and can cause vomitting as well. ayahuasca is supposed to taste absolutely vile, and the slow cooker is making the house smell like a loamy forest right now....like wet mulch and leaves. i can only imagine when this stuff is boiled down and concentrated into one or two shots worth it will taste pretty grim. the maoi also causes serious nausea and vomitting almost universally, which is often credited with much of the source of its reputed medicinal qualities (it's used to treat everything) the purging is said to eliminate physical as well as spiritual impurities in the body. in some cases people also experience diarrhea during the period of purging. i have not taken ayahuasca before and cannot speak from experience, but how it acts on you should largely be due to dosage and preparedness. people can take some heroic doses and maintain awareness, but if you take too much to handle, you may not remember the experience. the trip often includes ego death, or points out your flaws and "darker" aspects. it is said to balance the love and the dispair according to the drinker's needs - it is very introspective and has changed many lives. the willingness to expose you to your flaws is largely responsible for it's aid in treating addictions. generally, depending on how people prepare it, it must be cooked for 8-10 hours. because i'm doing it in a slow cooker instead of a pot on a stove, it may take me significantly longer. it is primarily used for physical and psychological healing and/or religious revelation, but it also is used by shamans for divination and both black and white magic. numerous deaths have been attributed to the "psychic darts" of the shamans under the influence of ayahuasca, which are spiritual weapons said to be capable of travelling any distance. some very basic but good information: http://www.erowid.org/chemicals/ayahuasca/ayahuasca.shtml http://www.ayahuasca.com/ http://www.nationalgeographic.com/adventure/0603/features/peru.html there are some good videos on youtube, and i'd also recommend looking into relevant work by such figures as terrence mckenna
the "darts" are generally used for healing though. tsentsak as the shuar call it. i think mariri is synonamous, but am unsure. these words are difficult to understand, my limited understanding is mostly from what i could observe in ceremony, and some dialog afterward. i know that the word mariri means alot more than somthing that can be simply defined. it is somthing cultivated in the body. the darts in the heart, and a magic phlegm of the throat, whose power is fed by mappacho (sacred tobacco) providing the shaman with a defence when sucking out the sickness of a patient. also gives power to the icaros. actually, i really dont know that tsentsak and mariri are the same things, but i think so. they are closely related if not the same functions. still quite a mystery to me.
yes, as i understand it the darts are frequently used for healing. perhaps there are words that simply translate poorly, but i do know of at least -some- shamans who claim that when performing their work in the spirit world they can send things to harm an enemy far away. this is not generally what ayahuasca is used for these days, but there is some malevolent magic involved with ayahuasca -sometimes-
Never done ayahuasca, but I probably will one day. I don't think you mentioned it (though implied quite a bit), but I assume this is your first time right?
Nesta, good luck with your diet and trip. Def keep us updated as to how it goes. There's not enough ayahuasca reports on here and I've been interested in trying this for a while...
