well i got it done like 3 days ago and i've been doing the mouth rinse thing like 15 times a day, plus taking my painkillers....it still hurts quite a bit but my care sheet says it will start to feel better by tonight. Anyways, i want to know how on earth do you get used to eating with this thing in your mouth? I am so afraid of biting on it cause when i do try and eat i get the barbell confused with food. How long before i feel better and how long does it take to learn to eat with it in? i've been having soup and stuff, but i'm frickin starving.
i will show pictures when my tongue is not so swollen!

It might take a couple weeks until you get use to the barbell when your eatting... until then just try chewing the food on one side of your mouth.

Yeah I just got mine done on Easter, and I thought the same thing. I was like "I will never eat the same again" But believe it, even though it feels like you will never get used to it, you will! And mine only about a week to heal to the point where I could start to eat somewhat normaly, Obviously still being very careful not to chomp. ANd like enviromental junkie said, one side of your mouth is the best way to go. I was carefully putting food on the right side of my mouth and even tilting my head to chew for a few days. It was kinda funny. But They say that one it heals and you change the barbell to a shorter one, then it feels MUCH better, and I believe it.... I have been trying to get a shorter one for the past week, but I haven't had the chance yet, so I still have the long one in that they peirced it with, and I have no problem eating now. Cept when somethin gets wrapped around it, but it's pretty easy to get used to. Just stick with it.... you should be fine in another 4 or 5 days. Good luck, and congrats on the new ring, You're gonna LOVE it when its totally healed. I love mine!

it does a while before you get used to it being in there. i remember when i first got mine done (over 6 years ago) that i kept biting on it and ripping my tongue but after a few times of doing that i finally found out that i need to eat my food slower. so this wouldn't happen anymore. :)

yeah as soon as the swelling subsides you'll be able to eat alot better and then once you can get the shorter barbell you won't even notice it. I had problems with mine too untill I changed the barbell out.
