I am getting my braces off next monday and I am so excited! I had thought about getting my tongue pierced in the past however heard that I could possibly lose my sense of taste. Is this true? My piercer said he did not want to pierce my tongue until I got my braces off. I wanted to know what others thought. I would rather get a facial piercing but I cannot have them at my job. I can only have my ears pierced and tongue pierced. Thanks so much! P.S. I also smoke. During the healing process is it okay to still smoke?
You wont lose your sense of taste, but you should if possible lay off the smoking while it heals, it takes longer.I'm sure you also know this but it puts you at risk for chipping teeth etc. as well.
^unless you want to get tongue cancer idk about loosing your taste buds getting your tongue pierced, but my friend got her tongue split and she lost some feeling & buds until it was all healed up. but yes don't smoke for awhile
okay. thank you so much. i appreciate it. i want to quit anyways. been under so much stress lately but that is no excuse. i am going to pay my piercer a visit this week for more info. i am so excited! 6 days until my braces are off! peace! :grouphug:
Chances are low that you would lose taste buds, ecspecially if he is a professional piercer. When I got mine done I asked if I could still smoke weed and he said that I could but I would have to wash out my mouth with mouthwash that was equal part mouthwash, equal part water. I don't know about smoking cigartettes though.
