    Hey guys,
Does anyone know an alternative for toothpaste? Or maybe a recipe to make your own? Thanks!

    hey beautiful freak!
this is one my main missions. i have been using natural toothpastes for the last five years or so & am finding out that even those have some not so good ingredients.
i'm doing some research on homemade versions right now....so i'll get back to ya :)

auromere is dank. other than that i havent found a good one. i would say almost all of Tom's products use petrochemicals. but they defend it as natural (a derivitave of petroleum and natural gas) remember that 'natural' is advertisement, not ingredients.

supposedly glycerine coats your teeth, leaving a film on them that makes it difficult to absorb the minerals from the food you eat! my mom had turned me on to this research all about it....i'll ask her for a link to send you
not sure if i believe all that & it would be REALLy difficult to avoid glycerine if you were looking for a commercial product (as even almost all the natural ones have it included)....now about baking soda - i think it's just sodium bicarbonate. in the states we can get it at any grocery or pharmacy. most of the homemade recipes will contain it. still searching for some good ones to send you

I used to use any toothpaste like colgate, aquafresh and so on... until i learned about animal testing... and then i got the idea that the toothpaste that were AD whatever, aprooved were just to make you have to go to the dentist... also my gums always would bleed after brushing with those brands...
so I started using the natural ones from the health food store.
i havent had to go to the dentist in about 5 years... no bleeding gums, no tooth aches or bad breath, and their whiter than before.
i've used Tom's natural toothpaste, JASON and Natures Gate...
    no probs with these...
and they do taste good :)

My dad has also been using baking soda for as long as I can remember.

Works good, it's cheap, but it tastes pretty funky...

ok here are the herbal recipes i've been promising (haven't tried them yet myself!).....
    (1)
    take equal parts:
    powdered sage
    baking soda
    salt
add peppermint essential oil to taste

    (2)
    white clay (kaolin)
    baking soda
    salt
    peppermint oil

    (3)
1/2 cup white clay (sifted several times)
    1 tsp sea salt
1 tsp baking soda (non aluminum)
    1 tsp powdered myrrh (sifted)
a few drops essential oil (anise, peppermint, or spearmint - your choice)

i'll probably try one out...let me know if you do
