wow, miami topped boston and new york???????? when I drive in st louis, I always notice how rude and non courteous they are, and if there are that many cities above st louis, I never want to drive in those cities.... MIAMI - For the second straight year, rude Miami drivers have earned the city the title of worst road rage in a survey released Tuesday. Miami motorists said they saw other drivers slam on their brakes, run red lights and talk on cell phones, according to AutoVantage, a Connecticut-based automobile membership club offering travel services and roadside assistance. Other cities near the top of the rude drivers list were New York, Boston, Los Angeles and Washington, D.C. South Miami resident Erik Pinto told The Associated Press he's probably seen every bad driving habit on Miami's roads. "You don't want to know what I've seen," Pinto said. "I've seen everything. I'm from L.A., and we don't see the crazy drivers that you see here." Portland, Ore., drivers were the least likely of the cities to see other motorists tailgating on the roadways, and St. Louis motorists were the least likely to swear at another driver, the survey found. Minneapolis-St. Paul was rated the most courteous city in 2006 but slipped to the middle of the list this year. The most frequent cause of road rage cited in the survey was impatient motorists. Drivers also cited poor driving in fast lanes and driving while stressed, frustrated or angry. "The best piece of advice is to take a deep breath. Slow down, be aware and be careful," AutoVantage spokesman Todd Smith said, adding the aim of the survey is to increase driver safety across the nation. More than 2,500 drivers who regularly commute in 25 major metropolitan areas were asked to rate road rage and rude driving in telephone surveys between January and March. The survey was conducted by Prince Market Research has a margin of error of plus or minus 2 percentage points. The list, ranked from those reporting the most incidents of road rage to the fewest: 1. Miami 2. New York 3. Boston 4. Los Angeles 5. Washington, D.C. 6. Phoenix 7. Chicago 8. Sacramento, Calif. 9. Philadelphia 10. San Francisco 11. Houston 12. Atlanta 13. Detroit 14. Minneapolis-St. Paul 15. Baltimore 16. Tampa, Fla. 17. San Diego 18. Cincinnati 19. Cleveland 20. Denver 21. Dallas-Ft. Worth 22. St. Louis 23. Seattle-Tacoma 24. Pittsburgh 25. Portland, Ore.
My current commute to work takes like 10 minutes now. I do not miss driving at least an hour each way for over ten years... My city is lower on the list than I expected too.
Same with Philly, our streets are so old that they become a new obstacle course of insanity every day.
I'm surprise Chicago isn't in the top 3 personally. I've never seen a ruder place to drive. Then again, I've never been to NY or Boston.
If you've never been to NYC, wow you will be in for a suprise if you do manage to get there. Try merging onto one lane of the Holland Tunnel at night. Wow is about all one can say
I don't doubt it. I was in shock in Chicago when I needed to merge over in traffic. I made eye contact with a driver, asked if he'd let me in, and he said No. In 15 years of driving in Atlanta, I've never seen anybody say No after making eye contact.
Yea, even in Philly, NORMALLY eye contact will never fail, although sometimes you have to open your window and ask. I always let people in though, and on highways I ALWAYS let trucks get on, even if Im late, but then again I work for a truck/freight brokerage company and I know how hard it can be for them to merge.
aha, I thoguht 'Pittsburgh' should be on there but never thoguht it would be noone can drive for shit here
farmington, new mexico, is fucking awful, too. i've noticed that anywhere there's a primarily affluent society, drivers are really fucking rude. they just act like you're not even there, self-important pricks. what the hell do you lose letting someone in? i'm pretty good at bulldogging my way into traffic, loads of practice.
my travel in chicago was the worst experience that I ever had. most nerve wracking, thats for sure.... driving through the freeway in chicago during rush hour at 8 am was no fun
Oh lucky me--I live right smack dab between San Francisco and L.A., so whenever a traveling weekend comes up I get the worst of the worst drivers from both cities coming through.
Texas was pretty bad because everyone drives right up your ass at 90 mph. Florida's was bad because you have to share the road with crazy punks, uninsured illegals, passive aggressive yuppies, and a million old farts that can't see past the windshield.
I've been to Boston but not N.Y. Personally, my vote goes for Chicago too. Although it's more the pedestrians than the motorists in Chi-town, in my opinion.
top cities with the nudest rivers? they drove pretty bad when i was in buffalo.. they'd swerve around people that were on the left side of the lanes to pass them.
I cant stand going to portland, those drivers are dumb as shit. That and its like driving between the cones.
