I used to be a vegetarian and felt really good about it but have since slipped back into occaisonal meat eating. My brother came to live with us and he loves to cook and almost everything he makes has meat in it and usually kinds I like. It makes it really hard. I feel like an addict trying to get back on the wagon. He is even doing the "hey lets eat my hot dogs and stop buying yours (the tofu ones)" sigh any good ideas? bb Delfynasa
What is your stance on vegetarianism? Is it for health or for animal rights or what? Maybe you could discuss your feelings with him about it. It's funny, I was thinking about vegetarianism being like an addiction this morning! Good luck mon amie!
stay strong and ask him not to offer you meat, i imagine ya havent been veg too long? after a year or 2 meat will make ya very sick ask him to just respecgt your choices and definetly dont eat meat hot dogs god thats a compltly neaseating thought
He came to live with you. It is your place. He should respect your choices under your roof. You just have to be strong in you decision if that is truly what you want to do and don't let your brother disreguard your choices. Stand up for them. Maybe it would be best if he cooked his meat meals and you cooked your veggie meals if you cannot agree on what to eat together. I can only imagine how hard it must be trying to go veggie while living with others who eat meat, especially if you like meat. I was lucky in that I was living alone when I started to change my diet so I had complete control over the food that came into my house. I wish you the best of luck.
whenever you see meat think of the animal. and like soaringeagle sed meat will seem very sick, but u gotta make sure u don't go to far on trying to make people go veggie, that can be nearly annoying as someone trying to get you to eat meat I should imagine. But yeh just think of the animals
Less whining, more action! Get some determination, if you really feel better being vegetarian, then you have to stay true to yourself. Motivatation comes from inside, not in a internet forum! Stay positive, focus on how good you feel being veggie, live all the benefits. Good luck!
Try my favorite receipe, Basil Pesto 1 cup pine nuts (they’re cheapest at the health food store in bulk) Toast pine nuts in microwave oven or hot skillet until light brown If Pine Nuts are too expensive try any other nut, like raw toasted sunflower seeds, almonds, pecans, hazelnuts or filberts. 2 cups basil ¼ cup of olive oil ¼ water, maybe a little more? Salt and pepper to taste. Blend until smooth. Seal the surface with olive oil so it doesn’t turn brown. You can store it in the refrigerator for 4 or 5 days. Mix with your favorite pasta. I like angel hair pasta the best. or Pizza Casserole Grease and flour a baking pan Line the pan with slices of sour dough bread Whip 2 or 3 eggs add a little salt & pepper to taste and pour the mixture over the sour dough bread Then you spread tomato paste or pizza sauce over that Then add Cheese if you like cheese Add your favorite pizza toppings Onions Garlic Olives Tomatoes Mushrooms Pineapple Est.… Bake at about 350 for 45 minutes
I really appreciate them. I have also checked out web sites reccomended in other threads with even more ideas! Hurray! I am not good at all at standing up for myself but I am gonna try. I like the idea of thinking of the animals too while being tempted. And his dogs are gross! The last time I had one I barfeeeeeeeed! Never again! I want to be a vegetarian for more than one reason-to be healthier, better for animals and the enviroment. I mean I wouldn't kill some poor thing to eat it what am I doing paying someone to do my dirty work? thank youuuu again!!! bb Delfynasa
