A broad question but it has been the topic of controversy here and there. Some people want to help the US peacefully. Peacefull protests in massive form will change things. Some others also want to help the US, but not with peace. They want to tear down the government. They want a revolution. Where do you guys stand? For me, peacefully of course... And will remain so until things get obviously necessary to defend ourselves.
And unlike most people, I would attack almost any country possible that abuses human rights to such a great extent.
I have a strange feeling that the outcome of the election may slowly lead to violence. I dunno if its based on anything intellectual. Just a gut feeling. I want change, but I have a feeling that it won't come with a smile. It'll be a punch to the face. Humanity is a tricky force to unite, especially after years of developing under violence. Still, peace is something I hope for. I have faith in it and its ability to do great things... I just wish more people did too. Til it does (which it very well could), the outcome of current events is obvious...
i agree with you burn. i would like a peaceful revolution and i plan on protesting in NYC peacefully but loudly. i do not think violence at the rnc is the right move but i do understand some are at that point in their minds. i think revolution is in the air. the shift has begun, you can feel it inside of you. seems obvious that if bush is reelected the US we know will cease to exist. a new relationship between govt and the people, it will no longer be "our" government (not that it ever was). in the end we may be thanking bush. the president that triggered the fall of the US Govt.
I don't care, i really don't. I want change, may it be good or bad. It's like they're halfway now. Either free us or lock us up, but don't keep us waiting.
I'm not pro anything, I'm anti-stupid people. Think about it, all the control the government has over us and all the programming that the media has done to us is basically a result of people not giving a shit, not educating themselves, not asking questions, not voting, and so on. If everyone just started watching the news instead of The Simple Life, or voted instead of spending election day at Macy's, or sat down and seriously researhced and thought about politics and the situation their country is in (any country, not just the US), the American people would be a fuck of a lot harder to control and manipulate than we are now. A revolution (peaceful or violent) will never occur because of the general apathy of the people. Our current system is not broken like a lot of people think, it just needs new batteries. If more people educated themselves and got involved, and more than half of us voted for candidates we genuinely support instead of ones we think had a clean war record three decades ago, and demanded as a whole that our politicians hold themselves to higher standards, then our society would not have a lot of the problems we have now. But it looks like that will never happen, so let's keep on talking about revolution.
I'm on the peaceful side, most definately... all you protesters in NYC, be careful, be safe, be mindful... I wish I could be there with you and I'm quite sure we won't have the opportunity to see it on TV...much like we didn't get to see the inaugural protests... I'll be with you in spirit. I'm a picket sign holdin', boycottin', strikin', peace-nik Peace & light Namaste
I think any MAJOR change will bring about violence whether it is wanted or not. Even Gandhi's non-violent civil resistance movement was spattered with violent outbreaks, which he detested, but was unable to prevent. How many times did he Fast till all violence stopped? A couple I know. However, change is needed and necessary. Whether that change is positive or negative will depend a great deal on how people respond to any violence that may errupt in changes wake. I don't forsee the "Powers" going down without a good fight...
I can't see a violent revolution in America ever succeeding without the help of a significant part of the military. If the entire U.S. military were against it a revolution would have no chance. Stick to peaceful means and gradual change.
There are always those few who are skilled and experienced that can help a revolution. Though the chances would still be slim it could work. I don't see anything too groundbreaking happening. By Christmas I suppose we'll know. Yes, I agree that getting people smarter is the smartest choice. The only reason why people are abused is from complaciency, ignorance and stupidity, all of which can be changed around with a little time. There are people who are trying to do this, and I say the more the better. We need all the help we can get.
