the uk has like the best music scene man. im from stlouis missouri and i wanna know what bands are comin up oer there or anyone big there that aint over hear. any more oasis's comin out?
any good music, if i like oasis, and the beatles, a band like them or really any thing new and good,{talented{ im a musicaholic and it seems everything i hear from the uk{ mainly from the imf channel} is great. but i never hear any of it on the radio here in the u.s. just curious whats goin on over there? whats indi? and is ur pop like bubblegum music pop? or is that a new genre?
You probably know of them already, but Arctic Monkeys are shaping up to be the next Oasis-like phenomenon. And aye, they're canny enough. One new British band that clicks with me are The Aliens. They've got a bit of 60's rock n roll vibe to them I suppose, a bit spacey in parts. Three original members of The Beta Band are in there, so you can't go far wrong The Bees are cool. First album really laid back, second quite rocking. Haven't heard the third but they did a great set at Glastonbury this year. And did you know The Verve are back together? Oh yes, new album and tour in the Autumn.
really! the verve i liked bittersweet symphony, is it true that liam gallagher sang backround? everyone tells me that, i like the artic monkeys if any of u saw the brit awards whose those 4 guys who sing like harmony? but thanks for the suggestions so far does everyone in the uk really like oasis so much?
Hold on a minute you guys in the colonies, just been looking through my music library and in there with the Levellers (my favourite band), Zepplin, Who, Stones and many, many more British and Irish acts there's more than a few from your side of the pond. Aeromith, Allman Bros, Ray Charles, B B King, Counting Crows, Doors. Dylan, The Band, Eagles, Foo Fighters, John Lee Hooker, Janis Joplin, Jefferson Airplane, Nirvana, James Taylor, Prince, REM, Santana, Paul Simon, 10000 Maniacs, Talking Heads, ZZ Top, Green Day, Otis Reading, Kings of Leon, Killers, Lynyrd Skynyrd and not to mention Motown, some of the finest 3 minute pop songs ever released. Ample evidence that there is some talent in America. However forgiveness for Whitney Houston, Hanson, The Osmonds and MacDonalds will be a long time coming, don't hold your breath.
??? I heard the Happy Song by the Aliens but other than that months ago havent heard anything from them since. Artic Monkeys - well yeah everyones heard of them cos they rock, But whos The Bees?? Or The Beta Band?? American bands totally rock... They have Anti-Flag, Rise Against, MCR, Foo Fighters, etc There are tonnes of American bands that rock but i cant seem to find many UK bands anymore... Oh yeah but Hard-Fi are good. I think they're from the UK.
Ah, The Beta Band are legends! Relatively modern legends, but a truly amazing band. Scottish four-piece rock outfit, but very fond of their synthesisers, electronics, and everything that makes a cool sound really I don't think it's official, but there's plenty of their music at: http://www.myspace.com/thebetaband You could kinda say the same for The Bees, except they're from Isle Of White and there's seven of them I think. All writing and singing and swapping instruments. http://www.myspace.com/thebeesofficial
haha britannia rules the soundwaves! a cool band lately is reverend and the makers. sort of indie, but they've got this james brown funk thing going on too. http://www.myspace.com/reverendmusic check out 18 30. my personal fav. i hope their upcoming album is full of those sort of cool melodies.
Just stereotypical thinking, the brits used to be industrious music makers, but not anymore. Maybe Radiohead and misc... If ya want the situation to remedy itself, make some music!
The Zutons are a good new band, kind of offbeat rocky pop. Also The Thrills, I think they're Irish. More melancholy are The Magic Numbers, they're doing well at the moment.
i was laughing the other day when i was listening to the local radio and Rehab is only just now getting airtime. and Smile. satelite radio is the only way to go in the usa these days.
Look out for the Klaxons. They are set to be the next big thing. They won the Mercury awards, knocking Amy Winehouse into a spiral of self pity. or you could go to www.hmv.co.uk It is a record shop in England. They sell cds and I note, vinyls are fashionable again including picture discs. Next time you are in London, pick up a few typical british bands.
