I read that the other day, something is seriously wrong with people. If such trends continue, we are about fucked as far as freedom is concerned.
Yeah, I read about this a few days ago as well. It made me cringe, but didn't surprise me in the least. It's very indicative of how dumbed-down this country has become. These are the same people who will bow down and accept whatever tyranny is in store for them, like good little slaves. Then people laugh at me when I talk about what I believe is in store for the coming years. Again, I am not trying to sound extreme, but this is the truth.... The "good Americans" of today bare a striking resemblance to the "good Germans" of the 30's. We don't believe it could happen here, and I am sure the Germans believed it could never happen there. And because of their gullibility and their willingness to accept all of the propaganda they were bombarded with, it did.
The disbelief in the possibility of it happening, is exactly what allows it to happen. People need to wake up... I just don't understand how people can dismiss so fundamentally important an issue as freedom.. Are they really that stupid? It's hard for me to believe, but I've seen nothing but proof of it.
I had heard some mention of this on the radio the other day, but I wasn't really listening much since I was on the phone, but this is really frightening....heartbreaking actually...
its sad what our schools have turned into. They are UTTER crap. School reforms should be like the biggest concern in this country. Kinda pointless to have the best colleges in the world if we cant even get our own students qualified to go to them.
One could argue that these teens are becoming more "European" in their thinking, which good liberals should applaud, no? Maybe they're just imitating France's overt hostility to public religious expression . . .
christ, lets hope we're not turning into europeans. Our schools need to get back to putting an emphasis on our foundation and the importance of the DOI and the constitution. Instead our schools are dumbed down with the 'teach everyone 1 fact about every country in the world' mentality. Who cares if they can point to lesotho on a map if they dont even know the value and importance of our first amendment? I know which i'd rather our children be educated in.
That's sad. All people under 16 in the US should just be steralized... well, almost all... maybe not the young Republicans.
The fact is schools in America and other western countries teach little more than conformity. It's all indoctrination to make you all cogs and good contributors to the system. This is why I am against public schooling altogether. It's mind control.
I agree... but privatizing education would be a complete tornover of the education system... the country is not ready financialy or mentaly for this.
That article doesn't surprise me a bit. I see it everyday, and I think I've just become numb to the whole ordeal. If high school kids today want to rot in their own ignorance, then I say let them destroy their own free will. I know that I know the truth, and I know that I'll never forget my rights, no matter how much the Constitution fades.
if only their ignorance would harm only themselves. An ignorant population could(and has) had disaster effects on everyone.
But what happened to the anti-authoritarianism? When I was in highschool we had drank, smoked and got porn while underage not to mention the few that did drugs (okay that was the innercity) so your telling me the new generation of youth are becoming hypcrites being proauthority while breaking the rules?
Drink, drugs and porn don't make somebody anti-authoritarian. Anti-authoritarianism in the majority of high schoolers is nothing more than the typical rebelliousness you would expect from people that age. It still doesn't mean they're not being dumbed-down and made into servents of the system, because most eventually "grow up" and lead similar lives as everyone else, serving the same system, if not dependent on it. You can still be anti-authoritiarian, yet devoid of mental and spiritual awareness. Anti-authoritarianism depends more on impulse than thought.
True but a number of these are highschool students they questioned and basicly stated a authoritarian view that seems counter to typical rebelliousness. If you break the rules of youth why would support the goverment to be able to have power to stop rule breakers?
