Okay, so I knew going in that this movie was probably going to suck. Still, I really liked Equilibrium, so I felt compelled to give it a chance.

There actually were moments of brilliance in this film. Director Kurt Wimmer apparently wanted this to be a live action Manga, and Anime fans will recognize a lot of scenes that could have come directly from the genre. This could have been a brilliant departure like Sin City. Unfortunately, he combined the latest in high def live action cameras with cheap CGI. One moment, the film looked really cool. The next minute looked completely cheesy, like time or money ran out to complete the project, so they just dashed something together. Also, Mr. Wimmer didn't bother to write any originality into the plot whatsoever. He took elements of The Matrix, Equilibrium, Underworld, etc., etc. and stuffed them together into something that masqueraded as a plot. Then he got together a lot of fairly low-rent actors and handed them ridiculous dialogue. I think George Lucas could have written better lines for the characters, and George Lucas can't write dialogue. Cameron Bright and Milla Jovovich were both quite good, given what they had to work with. Nick Chinlund was predictably horrible (I think he must eat dinner with Eric Roberts every Friday to discuss how to be a bad actor). William Fichtner might have been good, but I was too busy staring at his incredibly badly done vampire fangs to notice.

Overall, I think Resident Evil may have been a more satisfying movie. Maybe Mr. Wimmer has been spending too much time with Uwe Boll or something.

i agree with this review completely... i was pumped for this movie when i went to go see because i love these kinds of movies.. and i was overly dissapointed.. to me it seemed that they tried to make it too much like a comic book and did a very poor job at it.. the CGI was horrible.. and when they did an action scene the camera angles were really close up and the action was hard to follow.. over all if anyone wants to see it rent it but i thought it sucked.. the plot was weak and there were way too many plot holes

I have to agree, sometimes I thought wow that was really cool but overall I was thinking this may be the worst movie i have ever seen. The acting was heinous.
