I recently got a good sized tattoo on the inside of my left wrist. I know that the first year is the most important for keeping it out of the sun because that is the time it is most vulnerable to fading. I probably should have gotten in it the fall, but it's too late for that now.

Anyway, I have no idea what to cover it with. My friend said she used band-aids on hers, but hers is small. Mine is 4" high and 3" wide - a bit big for band-aids. Does anyone have any thoughts on what I could cover it with that would look hip and cool? I can only think of bandages, really, but I don't want to look injured. And I don't think sweatbands would be big enough. Would two look silly?

    Suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks!

if you are covering it for a job, or something like that, you can buy some makeup called dermablend. it is made to cover scars, tattoos, birthmarks, etc. it's fairly expensive, but it might be worth it. it is available at higher end department stores. of course, you would want to wait till the tat heals, before putting makeup over it...

if youre any good at beading or hemp jewelery make a wide bracelet. I'm sure you can make a pretty hot wide bracelet that wouldnt look like you were injured. And im sure if you wanted i (or many others on this forum) could make something and send it on over. Or you could put bracelts over bandages- but that might just make it look like youre covering up the bandages... hm... Id probably just go with a bracelet if i were you, but of course thats just me :)

hope i can be of some help

Well ... yeah the scorpion is quite a statement, but besides the fact that it's not me, I'm just not sure where to get one. HAHA

I like the bracelet idea. I have a friend that makes awesome beaded jewelery - I can't believe I didn't think of that myself. I'll ask her. I'm also going to the city next week so I'll see what I can find there.

    Thanks a bunch!

You could wear a wide cuff with a bunch of beaded & jelly bracelets. I'm sure you'll find something in the city. Good luck!

i was in the city yesterday and picked up a really nice WIDE wooden cuff for only $3!! Something like that is BEAUTIFUL (it was hand carved and inlayed) and wont look like youre trying to cover something up. Depending where in jersey youre from i might be able to point you in the direction of some nice shops..

Are you covering it up to keep it hidden, or to protect it from fading?
To hide: I would go with a hugeass bracelet. When I need to hide my wrist tat I find that a big silver or soft leather cuff works pretty well.
To protect from sun: Get a sunscreen stick. You can find lots of suncreen in a semi-solid stick form-like a big chapstick tube...that way the stuff stays on, and you have a lot of control over it, so you don't get funny white spots on an otherwise tan arm. It only goes where you want it(right over the tatt).

FYI: The wrist, especially the inner wrist is a relatively crappy place to put a tatt...keep in mind that touchups will probably be necessary in the future...I've had mine touched up twice since I got it a year ago.
