This could get real ugly, real fast.

Twenty-five countries have warships setting up exercises on tactics they would use should the Straight of Hormuz be blockaded. This includes three US Nimitz class carrier groups supported by 12 battleships.

Iran is preparing maneuvers to show that it is prepared to defend itself.

i dont give a rats ass about that region of the world, let them fix their own problems, but if america want to go there in readiness to start another useless war that they wont win, i just hope the australian government wont get involved, we have done far too much dirty work for america in the past, and for what, absolutely nothing.

america should stop spending trillions on sticking their noses in other countries business, and spend some of it looking after their own people, and the shit economy they are having to deal with.

i have a friend in america who lost 3 fingers in an accident (it was a clean cut and they could have been surgically re-fitted) but because he had no health insurance, and didnt have the $60,000 it would require to re-attach them and go thru follow up treatments, his fingers were put in the trash bin.

here in australia, it would have been free because of our medicare system.

i have nothing against american people, its the stinken rotten governments of USA who have this attitude that america is so much better than everyone else, and that we should all follow them, and lick their ass whenever they beg it.

in australia everyone who works and pays taxes pays 1.5% of their salary as a medicare surcharge, and if you earn $50,000 per annum, you pay $750 medicare, and that will allow u free doctor access in many cases, and access to the public hospital system where you dont pay a dime for treatment, and if its an emergency, you get looked at straight away.

australia has a social security system that is unsurpassed in the world, and if we in australia can do it, so too can america, and if you are on welfare, you dont pay the medicare fee, but you still get free medical treatment.

we all pay a small fee each and everyone benifits, its called looking after our fellow countrymen and women.

Don't you kid yourself. The american governement and the american people are in a very sick co-dependant relationship. The average american wants to feel "great", "tough" and "proud." Our governement uses ignorance to feed those desires and in return the people of this nation continue to empower the governement.

My advice is to look at this nation as a whole and excuse no one. Because Ghandi brought down an entire empire with only 300 million people. 300 million is about how many people are in the United States. But whereas the people of India were prepared to take a chance and work towards change. For the average american when the going gets tough, the tough go to Walmart and buy feelings of superiority that are available in a jumbo economy packs.

Not to get too far off subject, but this entire passage proves how misguided Americans are when it comes to healthcare and social services.

Politicians have everyone convinced that we'll be taxed to death for universal healthcare, but 1.5 percent sounds pretty good to me. I pay probably 8-10 percent of my income towards my health insurance on top of taxes.

We're taxed to death here because the majority of our taxes go towards defense and pork barrel spending. If America could properly cut out all unnecessary spenditure, shut down most of our military bases overseas, and stay the fuck out of the middle east, we could probably introduce universal healthcare and pour money into improving our infrastructure and still see a decrease in taxes.

    Ridiculous.

Ridiculous is about all I have to say in regards to the topic of this thread as well. I could delve deeper on the topic but what the fuck is the point? The human aspect of war and the state of the American military and the American soldier is sad as hell. So great let's recruit another generation of young .soldiers to fight some bullshit war in the middle east and watch the suicide rates rise. Not to mention what it does to unemployment rates and general morale. America needs to calm the fuck down and Israel needs to fight it's own battles.

It is not about "fixing" any problems. It is the elites and their never-ending perpetual war.

How come Israel & the USA (who actually dropped a nuke) can have nukes but Iran can't? (I am just bringing up a point, I am NOT pro nuke.)

What is the bigger curse? To live on a continent rich in oil, or on a continent with none? The masters of war love to play with 99% of the population's lives.

Oh the great things we could do if we could rise up TOGETHER.
    Is that possible?

Yes on purpose. We are taught to recognize the differences in others, not all the things we share.
    Religion
    Education
    Nationalism
    Class
Monetary system...all designed to control us and separate us.

I try to stay hopeful, but it is so hard sometimes.

The elites HATE to see people come together in PEACE. Look at how Occupy protesters are treated, vs. the Tea Party. Preach hate, they leave you alone, preach unity, you get pepper sprayed, beat down, arrested.

Just as a side note after a quick skim I realized this story has not been picked up by any American mainstream news outlets.

But there is a big story about Israeli urging Washington to draw a red line for Iran because they clearly have the capabilities to produce a nuclear bomb.. in 40 years.

I guess they're trying to garner support for an attack on Iran before breaking this story.

In reality this has to be one of the most strategically technically stupid things that any government could possibly do. If they were serious. Let alone 25 governments.

Let's put ton's of our most expensive capitol ships out there as big targets for 50 different massive batteries of land based artillery to use as real easy target practice. We didn't really want those ships anyhow. Right????

The Straits of Hormuz are a whole 20 miles across in many locations. We have our bases, as well. Any Land bases anywhere across the straits from Iran, with artillery, and land missile bases and land jet bases would be a far superior Tactical concept. Any Child can tell you that can't sink a land base. Look at the map and count the countries. Starting with the United Arab Emirates and Oman.

From the News: "The armada involves 25 nations, including the United States, Great Britain, France, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates."

Why not use land bases in Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates?

So, you've got to ask, is this just blustering? Or are they really that stupid?

Before you answer that, try to remember that at the beginning for World War II, the people who were in charge, really did think the battleships where the "Be All And End All". No one who was in charge thought very much of aircraft carriers at all. Aircraft carriers were gimmicky play things.

Now, If I were the Chief of Staff in the military, the Iranians would need to worry about the day that All of the Ships completely left the area. We got them all cleared out of the war zone. That would be the day to really get scared.

    Can you spell: H-O-R-S-E-S-H-I-T ?

    Just my two cents.

War and strife apparently are hard-wired facets of the human condition. Always been war-always will be war. From basic war over shelter from the elements, which of necessity was pretty much hand to hand, to war with WMDs over the remaining resources,it continues. Why would it, and particularly how would the human condition change from what has always been? This attention to the middle east would never have happened if modern society depended on other than oil. If machinery ran on prunes-that's what the wars would be fought over. When oil is used up,there will be the usual struggles, games(not by us peasants) and war (enter peasants)over whatever becomes necessary to maintain the power of the same class of people that have it now. It's not local any more. War seemingly remains inevitable. Problem is,a few sticks or rocks upside the cranium thrown by ancestral humans for decent shelter or breeding stock, didn't do the kind of damage we face with the advent of the WMDs ,including perhaps the end of us all.

So in one form or another,in some place or another, with some peoples/nation/s or another, she's a'coming. Just so happens to be the middle east this time for the reason I've stated. JMO.

I don't get it we have tons of bad ass missles that we could just manage in Saudi Arabia and other allies. Why ll the rukus? The"re just trying to start something to get another 100k people killed for what? Nuclear technology uhm okay.. It's going to happen one way or the other regardless Iran will obtain this ability sooner or later. I might not agree with it but lets face it we don't need another war and Israel does alot of stupid shit to provoke their neighbors. IDK this world is fucked I don't want to even be on this planet anymore.

Agreed. We are not in the position to deny Iran it's nuclear technology wether we like it or not. How hypocritical can a war start (hopefully it doesn't of course).
