In a bold move, the US government has seized a number of file sharing websites, and even a website that only lists file sharing sites. The rationale for the seizures is that they were helping people share copyrighted material. So copyright law is now a tool to shutdown bit torrent websites, and search engines that display links to them.

Yup, folks, freedom is just another word for business interests...

Copyright law exceeds what I consider fair use.
Until we stop electing the same corporate sellouts to congress, we should not be astonished when simple freedoms disappear.

Reviewing the list of sites shutdown, most seem to be selling knock-offs of real products like handbags, etc. Those I can understand getting shutdown, but not the torrents, even though stuff we've published has been spread for free via torrents. You gotta draw the line somewhere. Information longs to be FREE!

This sucks... geez it really is becoming a police state. drugs are illegal, gay marriage isn't legal everywhere, every time a new drug comes out they ban it out of fear, war is approaching, and all anyone seems to give a shit about is Black Friday sales.

I'd re-write our anthem to be 'land of the temporarily privileged, home of the suckers' if it were up to me.

There's got to be a middle ground. Music companies should not be pulling the plug on Youtube videos and then totally denying access to videos AT ANY PRICE!!!

I think at this point their is only one choice for the US and european countries. I don't think a peaceful movement will change things at all now. Im honestly waiting for all hell to break loose because its the only chance this country has of being fixed. I study history and I believe Jefferson's warnings and idea best say what needs to be done. Below are two of his quotes I agree with. though as bad as war is, I believe it is sometimes the only option.

"The tree of liberty must be refreshed from
time to time, with the blood of patriots and tyrants."

''The strongest reason for the people to retain the right to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against tyranny in government.''
