Where would one go about finding used LP's? How much do they usually cost? Is it possible to find good music, or just crap?

    I've found alot of LP's at thrift stores,flea markets,yard sales,etc. They're around,just gotta look for them.
Oh and call around to any local music stores...we have one here that sells used music and their section of used LP's is unbelievable.

Look up music stores in the phone book. I get most of my used records from used music stores, but like others have said, flea markets and yard sales are also viable options. I wouldn't do the eBay thing, mostly because you can't actually look at the record and check for scratches, but also because I hate waiting around for two weeks to get my music. :p

Well, here in Ottawa, there are nearly as many vinyl stores as cd stores. Just have to go out and find them.

[edit] quite the exaggeration, but nevertheless, there are many.

Goldmine magazine, Discoveries magazine, and as everyone else said, fea markets, yard sales, thrift shops. There is definately alot of good music out there, however the obscure vinyl will be hard to find. There are also record and cd shows being put on by many record dealers all over the country. Go to your local library and check out some of the record price guides, that should give you some idea of their value.

Their prices seem to be a little bit high, just to let you know. You can find most of the records they have listed cheaper than they're selling them.

thrift stores, yard sales and estate sales are my favorite places simply because of the thrill of finding the unexpected, usually pretty cheap. e-bay is good for finding the rare stuff. the thing do do there is watch. it seems like their are ups and downs with prices. if something is more than you want to pay, wait, it'll be listed again. a little tip...if you find some dirty records, a little dawn dishsoap and an old t shirt will clean them up pretty good. although it won't fix scratchs, it'll will get fine dust and dirt out of the grooves. have fun and happy hunting.

theres a place i love to go to in minneapolis (Hymes, if you ever happen to be there) that has all kinds of really cool records. and really cheap too. i think the most ive ever payed for a album was 15 dollars. and i know theres some other places that sell cds that sell records too. half price books has a bunch too, if you have any of those near by you. i would say to never pay more then 20 dollars for a record, unless its really really special or rare. there not worth that much and who ever is selling them for that much just wants to make money. i saw magical mystery tour some where for 50 dollars when i payed 10 for it. and the 50 dollar one was missing pages and in terrible shape.
