I had the pleasure of watching this wonderful movie for the second time yesterday, and I love it. The filming is magnificent, the crazy story, everything... amazing acting... it's all wonderful. What do you think about this film?
I liked it too, and I don't really like Tom Cruise. The concept of the story stuck iin my mind, especially thinking about how he lived 100's of years with the "memories" of his friends who had long since died, they were still alive in his mind, and he had to say goodbye to them when he was waking up. I've heard Abre Los Ojos is a lot better, haven't seen that one yet.
I loved it...more than i thought i would. Its the Music acting plot and...just well everything. Did you notice Jason lees character in the black and white footage ..he had a dodgy goatee...what was all that about. Is the person having the dream him or what ??? Did you watch it on DVD ... did you see 'Hitting it hard' That was very funny. Its true what cameron said about it being just another movie that you watch in the middle of the night...half asleep. i have done that. Abre Los Ojos --The director of the original was not disgusted with camerons version so....
Yeah, the "Hitting It hard" was rather funny. The DVD offers alot about the movie, Camron's commentary does make it more enjoyable.
i love vanilla sky. its very thought provoking. i liked how he took things that he had liked (like the cover of the bob dylan record) and made it part of his life. and i thought penelope cruz was amazing. i fell in love with her in it.
I saw Vanilla Sky at the movies and then I also bought the DVD. I really enjoyed the movie. I'm especially fond of the concept of lucid dreaming, so, I was bound to like it. Blue skies, -Jeffrey
i liked this movie a lot...i didnt want to watch it at first though, maybe i didnt pay attention but the commercials really didnt represent the movies well, i think. it seemed like it was just going to be some thriller about cameron diaz getting revenge on tom cruise cause he was cheating and yadda yadda, but yeah, the movie was great.
wasn't that horrifying when Cameron Diaz was going crazy while driving the car...."I swallowed your cum, that means something etc." I hope that never happens to me!
IMO it would have been a far better film if some of the ambiguity that ran through the whole film had been left in at the end to keep you thinking, instead of the typically horrible, Hollywood style happy ending that we were subjected to.
The first time I saw it I didn't really get. One day I actually paid attention and it all fell in place. I loved it!
It all fell into place please explain too a thicky like me... i still don't quite get it. I mentioned Jason lees character appearing in a black and white section of the film...erm it was actualy colour..it was near the begining were the fathers 'life' was being explained a little... its probably not even him but i think jason lees character is living somewhat vicariously through tom cruises character .. or the other way around.. ... I am completly off track arn't i. I don't think its as complicated as i may wish for it to be..a bit of help with it would be nice though.:&
Quote: instead of the typically horrible, Hollywood style happy ending that we were subjected to. that ending was anything but typical Hollywood....first of all it wasn't really a happy ending, he basically learns that he has been living in his mind for 100s of years, and that his girlfriend and friends had long since died and these were enhanced memories he was living with....and he had to choose to say goodbye to everyone he knew if he wanted to be reawakened and live in the real era he was in I think it was quite a sad ending...him looking back at his friends and his love and then jumping off a building....how is that a typical hollywood ending, you can't even be sure he survived or about what his life would be like in the future. It was a pretty abiguous ending in my correct opinion ( ).
I saw this movie... at first I did not understand it but when I watched it again I really did like it..........
"I'll tell you in another life, when we are both cats." I loved her delivery of that line, especially in that accent! It was so wacky and absurd as to be adorable! Blue skies, -Jeffrey
loved it. hit deep. brought tears to my eyes. fav. part : when tom cruise goes all nuts about the "FUCK-ING MAAAAAASK!!!" in front of the board of doctors.
