I was reading Food of the Gods, and the book mentioned how Herodotus wrote that the Scynthians would throw the seeds on hot rocks and inhale the vapor, which they collected in a cloth sweat lodge (probably made of hemp) somehow built over the heated rocks. Has anyone tried this with a modern vaporizer? Herodotus didn't really explicitly say it was intoxicating but noted the steam created by the ritual was thicker than that of the Grecian vapor baths, which I'm assuming were saunas of some kind.
maybe then their brains were much clearer and unpoisoned by modern foods and medications.. they then might have gotten high.. I doubt today you will.. though I believe there are some seeds you could vap, dmt, possibly datura.. if you wanted to go there...
I just vaped some pot seeds, and I'd say its worth it. I'm not stoned, but I have a mild body high. Its definitely more of an effect than you'd get smoking skullcap. It also tastes like popcorn.

It does a good job. Just make sure u suspend the bottle by at least 2 inches from the plastic. I've been smelling it closely to make sure there's no plastic smell too.
i'll admit seeds taste good when eaten but i couldnt imagine really breathing their vapors being anything better then a headache. i'm used to fineley manicuring my herbs to be free from stems and seed
I did last night, and I had no such headache, and there was a discernable high from it. I had the heat at about 350 degrees. I also tried vaping some stems. Its not bad. Its not the same as smoking them. If it was good for the Scynthians, its good for me. That's the logic I went off of in trying this endeavor. I wouldn't have even done it if it wasn't for reading that it was a cultural practice at one time.

They didn't just throw seeds on the stones. Picture this, throwing branches with bud that had gone to seed on the hot stones. Makes a little more sense now, doesn't it? Also any THC you get from the seeds would only be whatever resins happened to stick to the seeds, there is virtually no THC in the actual seeds. Remember people, all the good stuff in pot is EXTERNAL, ya know, those little mushroom looking glands, there is no THC inside the plant or the seeds.
The marijuana seed is protected inside with the silk side of the calyx, thc forms on the outside, if it formed on the inside. the seed would be stuck to the plants and never fall to the ground when the wind blows.
