Do you agree? Do you think you look younger/better personally? Do you know anyone who has/is from being vegetarian?
Healthy eating and lifestyle can make a person age better. -but, no I do not agree that universally veg=younger appearance
Oh, the 2nd question. I am not sure that being vegetarian makes me look younger, I have nothing to compare that to- to know what I might look like if I ate meat. I stopped eating meat as a preteen. When my husband became vegetarian, he also went on a lower cal diet and joined the gym, he defiantly looks healthier than before he quit eating meat(dunno about younger), still, don't think I could say veg= younger looking.
well, I went veg in 1980 and no one believes I am 40 now. the oldest guess was someone who knew my sweetie's age and he was off by six years. Part of that is being aware of my diet, avoiding sun and generally keeping large amounts of crap out of my life. I have small amounts, but I don't drink, don't smoke anything, gave up a lot of extra stuff in my life.
I've been veg for not-quite 3 years now. People often mistake me for 10-ish years younger than I am as well, and have since I was a teen so I can't blame it on being vegetarian. Recently I had someone think I was my son's older sister! My best guess is it's a combination of other things, like sunscreen & wearing hats when I'm outside, not using tons of makeup & sticking to natural soaps, and having an all-natural diet. Even when I ate meat, I steered clear of artificial ingredients & heaps of preservatives and such. love, mom
Obviously it varies from person to person depending on how well their body copes with things, whether they do drugs, where they live etc. Also i think the 1st person to reply actually had a valid point in that you can be veg and still have a crap diet and therefore not age too well. But generally those eating a healthy veg diet will in my experience age better than those who eat a load of meat every day. Its harder to tell when younger because the body is so good at healing itself in the beginning. I notice heavy meateaters often go bright red, sweaty and sometimes obese as they age. Of course like i said this isnt universal though Im 20 yet look about 16, my husband is 28 but looks about 23, apparently, but there are younger looking meat eaters too
it probably all depends on how good of a vegetarian they are.. as in.. keeping up with protein and iron, i know i'm not too good with it, but my skin does seem to be a lot vibrant since i stopped eating meat.
Total thread-theft, but... Velveeta is edible?!? DH tried to show me how to make macaroni & cheese when we were first married... I took one look at the box, (I had NEVER had velveeta before, having been taught to make a roux at 10) and it said "Artificial cheese food" on the package. All I could think was... if it's cheese-FOOD, is that what baby cheddar eats to grow up & be strong, aged cheddar? Never did try it, either love, mom
I think that truthfully, healthier people just plain look younger... Being healthy and being veg just go hand and hand so long as you eat right.
I din't think that's true. you can slow down, or even reverse aging by eating a low-calorie diet. Don't eat much, and I guess it really slows down aging
Well, everyone thinks that I am 16 or so, but i am 23. I think that I look younger because of the way I eat, but I did notice a gray hair. I have been under HIGH levels of stress.
i don't think being a vegetarian/vegan necissarily makes you younger looking, and people that go veg but aren't.. idk.. doing it properly and aren't getting good nutrition because they stopped eating animal products generally look worse than the rest of us omnivores, though most vegetarians/vegans i know are at a pretty healthy weight, so i'd say most of them look better (than me atleast), but not necisarily younger.
