Okay, for some strange reason, you're in a situation where you absolutely HAVE to be secluded to an island, without civilization or electricity, for the next 10 years. You're only allowed to bring the following:

1 - one book
2 - one picture
3 - one cd (you're allowed a discman to listen to it)
4 - one modern appliance
5 - one drink
6 - one type of food
7 - a shoebox to fill with misc items

What of each would you bring? here's my list...

1 - Drawing Down The Moon
2 - a pic of my family taken 2 years ago at xmas
3 - a ska cd my brother burned for me
4 - microwave
5 - cherry coke
6 - eggrolls
7 - I'd fill my shoebox with crafts to make, to keep myself busy and decorate my hut with

3) Pink Floyd: Delicate Sound of Thunder (which is cheating b/c it's a 2 disc set - Heh!)
4)Hey Cerridwen, how's my appliance gonna work w/o electric? J/K! A lamp so I can read and write.
5) If there's already fresh water, then Tequila Rose (Hey, this is my island, I can drink expensive stuff if I want because I'm bored as hell...)
6) Strawberries!
7) I'd put paper and pens in my shoebox so I could still write (ten years on a deserted island should produce some good literature)

6) as I'd eat fish and fruits on the island, I'd have grain
7) hammer,nails,saw, fishing stick, mirror, and a magnifier to light fire

1 - BOOK - whichever one i can find with the most pages so it'll take me ten years to read probably a Bible...because i'd have to pray for my own life hah.

3 - CD - 'T-Rex Hits' because Mark Bolan is a God..and i'll never get bored of hearing it.

4 - If I can stretch it a bit, my Martin D-35 acoustic.

5 - Either Coke or Simply Orange, orange juice

6 - Vegan Lasagna or this chili bean soup stuff my dad makes

7 - extra guitar strings, a satellite telephone with a built in digital camera and e-mail, A palm pilot/mini computer with internet access and mobile AIM, and an address/phone book with my important telephone numbers, a hatchet, waterproof matches.

something like 1001 formulas, tips and data, or alica bay laural's living on the earht. though an index to the local flora and fauna if the local were to be known in advance, might be most useful of all if it gave not so much names but uses and dangers

why would i want anything i couldn't use creatively?
i'll trade both the picture and the cd for a folding pruning saw and one of those eggbeater type hand powered hand drills.

a lot of very small tools like wallpaper/xacto knives, small files, a multimeter, possibly a palmtop or at least a programable calculater. if the meter and calculator could plug and play interface with each other all the better. a very large thightly folding 'space blanket' and a sonic screwdriver would also fit nicely, along with a varity of small clamps and vices, and a very long roll of very fine but very strong wire or monofiliment, along with something to cut it with.
there would of course be a large number of bits for the drill, both in a varity of sizes and a whole bunch big enough to pass the wire/mono through the hole they made. oh and a nonflamable probably enameled 'tin' cup!
