    The stores sell these plastic buckets for a dollar or so every year. Buy a hand full and put LED battery candle lights in them and hang them from your trees It's cheap and looks pretty cool at night

    b5 was the closest i've personally seen tv ever come to real science fiction. yes there were wars, mostly off screen, but the focus was more on different cultures and convincingly alien ones, something you seldom see done well outside of books. its all about thinking outside the human box, and inspiring not predicting, technological and cultural evolution and how they influence each other (which is also itself an actual science)

    lexx, while not scientifically rigorous, would fit well with the scarry season theme.
    for other media stuff no phony scarry, i like grown up wednesday adams.
    it was a thing on youtube, there was a couple of seasons worth of it.
