Which is better? There's only one way to find out... (Sorry, that's an in-house joke for us Brits - comes from the comedian Harry Hill). The cliche is that women prefer literary porn while men prefer the visual. How true is this? If you ever use porn, which do you prefer? I like both, but literary porn I can only enjoy if it's written from the female point of view. For visual porn I generally use Porntube, Pornhub and Redporn. I find the sound is just as important as the pictures - the erotic moaning is a real turn on. Literary porn has the advantage of being simpler: no need to 'full screen' the film to get rid of all the distracting advertising at the sides, and no need to adjust the volume. And if you get distracted for a moment, you don't miss anything.
My gf and I in the room atm: I have gotten off to both but visual is the one I've gone back too more often My gf has gotten off to both but literature is the one she goes back to. But thats just two people I'm sure their are exceptions
There's things one has over the other. I'm not too sure the preference is gender pecific, except for the obvious that 9 out of ten readers are women. Maybe it's also to do with the fact that up until recently most video porn has been geared at men - and a certain kind of man at that. However accepted porn is in this day and age, you're going to be hard pressed finding a girl who's down with a fifty man throat bang video or something of the sort. As for myself: I say there's things stories can do that you just can't reproduce in video - because of the constraints of the medium as well as the producers. The back- or forward-story of an erotic anecdote can really bring out, let's call it the 'epic' quality of real-life sex. Too much porn is like watching sports. Anais Nin is an exxxcelent author.
before i start i'll state that chances are about 99.9% that the kind of porn *I'M* Familliar with is WAY different from what you're familliar with (glance at the "about me" in my profile and you'll see why) now then, i prefer both mediums personally. i've even written one or two and posted them online. visual porn is nice because it gets everything accross quickly, and, in my opinion, is better for getting off quickly and going about your business. written porn however goes much deeper. it has to describe what's going on rather than just showing you. this also allows a more P.O.V. (Point Of View) form of writing that allows the reader to put themselves in the place of the subject being written about. this lends itself better to taking your time masturbating, maybe even edging yourself for a long time to ultimatly produce a more powerful climax. it takes longer and leaves you more exhausted, but i think it's well worth the effort.
Nice post, Kilofoxx. I thought you were a woman at first (that's meant to be a compliment), but the bit about 'edging' gave it away. I know what you mean about written porn going much deeper. I've read your 'About me' section, and I'd like to know, out of curiosity, what is 'furry', 'cosplay' and the other one? I suppose these are terms known only within the gay male world?
I think women like to fantasize about men that don't exist - the rich CEO who's good looking with a full head of hair, has time to work out every day so has perfectly sculpted muscles, is charming and kind (because that's how he got where he is in the business world) wants marriage, kids and a family and is 100% faithful, and still has tons of free time to go on holidays with her and have sex. Men are slightly more realistic but not by a whole lot: their fantasy doesn't include the nagging, clinginess and/or cat-like instinct for deception that is rarely absent in the real-life objects of their desire .
oh male fantasies are JUST as unrealistic as female ones XD apparently me being mistaken for female is a common theme in my life XD i've gotten used to it (hell a friend of mine is making me a skirt) i'd be mistaken for female in person too if it wasn't for the fact i'm 6'4" XD okay, now to the questions you asked: Gaming (which is what i assume you meant by "the other one" since it's the only other item listed in my interests) is well... just that, gaming. tabletop gaming (like D&D) video games, board games, et cetera. Cosplay, or Costume-Play, is the activity of dressing up as characters from movies, TV shows, Anime, and games. Furry is an interest in Anthropomorphic animals, and there's an entire internet subculture dedicated to it. even though it is primarily non-sexual, sexuality and sex in the furry fandom has been put on a spotlight by those OUTSIDE the fandom for whatever reason, and it's been (largely) mistaken solely as a fettish (it IS a fettish for some, however) most aspects of the fandom just simply include enjoying movies/shows/art/stories/games that feature furry characters (Starfox, Disney's animated Robin Hood, Sectet of NIMH, Tom & Jerry, and a multitude of other examples) most furries also have their own anthro character that is (usually) essensially themself, but as a humanoid animal (mine, for instance is an Arctic Fox) the species chosen varies between favoured species of animal, or various attributes applied to animals that the "player (the person who made the character) eaither has, or wants to express more (Crafty and sly fox, wise owl, vicious wolf, majestic deer, et cetera. some players go for a bit of irony and invert the steriotypical attributes just for fun.) and of course like i said the fandom DOES have its sexual side (but so does EVERY other subculture) but it's so drastically different from the socially-accepted "norm" that it gets far overplayed and is actually a source of bigotry against furs. and furry as a sexuality also means different things to different members of the fandom. and there's SO many different views on it that i could talk all damn day about each one, and frankly that's a little much. so i won't get into it. the most common misconception about furry as a sexuality however is linking it to beastiality, which it isn't. the furry characters ARE still people. (then again there's also people who make "feral" (non-anthropomorphic) furry characters, and/or sexualize them and that *IS*, at the very least bordering the line of beastiality. the actual percentage of furs that express it as a sexuality (eaither in tandem with the fandom as a whole, or just on its own) is about 20% of the ENTIRE fandom, the percentage of THAT who use feral characters is probobly around 2%, and that's an over-estimation.) the other popular misconception is that all furries are gay/male. the percentages of straight/bi/gay furs are, if i recall correctly, 50%/30%/20%. (not EXACTLY of course, i am rounding) and male/female ratio is about 60%/40% i believe. there's various furry surveys out there that show accurate statistics but i can't pull them up right now.
A picture makes you come more than a thousand times upwords in the time that it would take to read the name of the person who wrote the work of literary porn and to get to the part where the action starts.
OK, thanks for that explanation, Kilofoxx. I've got a bit of a one-track mind at the moment. I need to get off this forum and get some things done.
Generally visual help me...but, as one game board once said, the brain is the most powerful processor know to man, so I love reading the really good fics too.
Sorry for the double post, but that statement from Red Rose...that was really tasteless man. Seriously? I like furries too, and I'm straight dude. Whether it was naievity or an actual insult, it would be best that you watch what you say. Just giving you a heads up.
No, it wasn't intended as an insult. I associated Kilofoxx saying he had unusual porn tastes with his liking for 'furries', which I'd never heard of. There's no need to be offended: there are certain terms not everyone is familiar with.
they're both pretty awesome to get off to, but I feel like porn stories make things too idealistic, real life sex will never be as awesome as that
and visual porn IS realistic? of course not, neither is. the point is to express a fantasy. it wouldn't be a fantasy if it was realistic right?
maybe we're watching different types of porn... I can't get off to the porn stars. I prefer it when normal people take the camera into their bedroom and do what they do, so yes due to where my tastes lie, I can say visual porn is more realistic to me
I was corrupted when my Uncle left a copy of De Sade's "Justine" out for me...So obviously literary porn has had a big influence.I think visual porn has a more immediate sense of gratification, but the scenarios are usually hackneyed and cliched, leading to boredom.Literary porn can satsify on a deeper level, for me,as I'm a very textual person. For example I remember reading an erotic novel when I was 15,which had this guy that used to like to get his woman to pee on his chest,an image and fantasy that has always stayed with me,and one that I have not satisfied in the real World...
Each has it's pros and cons. I actually like literary if it is written really well and the characters are believable. You can also jump into an environment and the culture of why the sex is significant in that said story, and also see each character's intentions and motivations which you can't do really well in visual porn. Also I've found that in some well written literature, that uses a lot of descriptive action, I can then apply some of those actions and technique to my own real life with women which have worked. But obviously, if your reading a story that is not following the logic of anatomy, and otherwise then this is a moot point in those scenarios. --- Visual porn on the other hand is quicker, but obviously isn't silent, and I've found it does hinder real life performance between partners and expectations are raised based on "camera angles" that don't really work.
