if occupy want's to make a differance register every one to vote!!!! then the 1% will take notice!!! corp. america uses our 2-party system to keep our vote divided, maybe we can have the occupy party with some basic
commen sense legislation that we the 99% can agree on long enough to
reintergrate the 1% back into our society!!!! so does anyone have any idea's?????

The problem with these ideas of an occupy party is that nobody survives being a big party, and stays honest.

We don't need a party, parties in that sense are poison. We need the occupy movement to support, finance, etc, worthy independent candidates.

There are lots of good ideas. But a huge problem is that of the 99%, half want to make the world a better place and the other half wants to shrink government and let the corporations do whatever they hell they want. We are hopelessly split.

Even worse, it hardly matters what the people think anymore. Every good idea is blocked by gridlock and they aren't really listening to us anyway.

One effective thing to do is to vote against all incumbents. Right now, all these fat cat legislators are hardly worried about losing their jobs, because incumbents almost always win. If they had a little fear, they might listen to us a little more.

When voting boils down to choosing from a list of candidates selected by that 1% then the message sent is that we're still not paying attention.

This is the naive belief that is partly the reason for the country being in the state it's in. The corporations and government are one and the same. You have been sold a lie if you believe government is somehow good and exists to protect people from the corporations. The politicians are all bought off and owned by the corporations. Whenever the government does regulate, it only ends up hurting the small businesses that cannot afford to pay off the government so they can get away with what the multinationals do.

It's the government that has made these multinational corporations as big and corrupt as they are. Look who's giving them YOUR money. The government.

This belief that one side is for the corporations and one side is for the little guy is so off the mark it's not even funny.

The Occupy Wall Street crowd (the majority at least -- not all) wants to give the government more power so the corporations can have MORE control over our lives (and vice-versa). They don't know this, but that is the reality so many cannot see. Again, the two entities work together, essentially making them one and the same.

The idea that the government is going to clamp down on the corporations when it is a vehicle of those corporations is moronic.

I wouldn't say this is true at all. There are 535 people in congress, dozens of them are good progressives. They just tend to be outnumbered by a lot. The problem is primaries. Primaries draw out, 10, 15% of the electorate to actually choose who's going to run. The issue here is old people(sorry any elderly reading this it's true) vote in disproportionate numbers, that leaves you with more conservative Democrats, and in the GOP case, you get nutjob Tea Party types. Progressives as a whole suffer from the consequences of the fact many aspects of their voting bloc are the demographics least likely to vote.

I'd phrase it that, of the 99%, half want to make the world a better place by shrinking the corporations and half want to make the world a better place by shrinking government.

The Man has (at least) two faces, a governmental face (that pepper sprays students) and a corporate face (that signs students up for bankruptcy proof loans).

Until folks can see that those who oppose one face are the allies of the opponents of the other face, we will remain split.

But, there is hope that we can work with those we disagree with and both fight The Man, both faces.

This is true in a way.

But mostly, that's why this whole 2 party system needs to be end-run by independents. And the occupy movement could turn into the independent movement. Independents HAVE to cater to the constituency, because they don't have a party title to fall back on, they have to be their OWN brand name.
