Hey yawl..I didnt know where to post this and thought this was the best place. My hair hasnt been its natural color in soooooo long. Its been red for years now and everyone likes it...but I dye it too much and all of it not just the roots . Its about shoulder length and is gettin really damaged and yucky lol. Someone said if i bleach it it will fry it....but will light to medium brown cover the red? I think my natural color is dirty blonde so I want to get as close to that and let it grow out. What can I do other than chop all my hair off?
I dyed my hair red, brown, different brown, black, and brown over the black within about 5 months, and I got my hair bleached and it removed all the crap that was on my hair, all the residue was gone and my hair was so soft and shiny and perfect Just find a good salon to do it and you can ask them beforehand too
let it grow out and cut it my friend wanted dreads and she dyed and strightend her hair so much that clumps of her dreads fell out casue it was all dead
Red is a hard color to get rid of. Any brown or blonde that you dye over red will come out with probably a reddish tint to it. If you can swing the money, go to a color specialist and let him do it for you. If I were you I would never bleach my hair............if you do that you'll probably end up having to chop it all off eventually anyway because it will be so damaged. I had to stip color off my hair once and then because of the damage that left I had to cut it again. You could do what I did.....dye a brown over the red and then just let your light brown roots come in on top of it......then cut your hair when the roots get to about chin length. I didn't want to cut my hair off but it only took a year for my roots to come in that long and then it felt so good starting over with fresh & healthy un-dyed hair. Sometimes you need to go backward to go foward.
red is in the bases of almost all hair dyes, so you're probably always going to have a red tinge to your hair. i know what you're going through. i used to have this ash blonde hair and since i started to dye it 7 years ago, i've never had anything remotely ash again. i've tried to "fool" the red by adding more green to the dyes, which makes the ashy color, but that just made it go more green with brass in it. red is pretty much impossible. sadily, about the only option that you have is to grow it out. it sucks.....not too much you can do though....in the mean time, try and dye it something else that you like. and yes, bleaching is hell on your hair. especially if your hair has been dyed this much, you may have some of it fall out if you bleach it. I was lucky enough that mine didn't do that too bad....i've always had thick hair, so I never really noticed, but i've hear many worse things from other people. good luck in whatever you decide to do
