I have wanted to try LSD and shrooms for awhile now but now im not sure i mean i have heard things like some people never come out of there trip.Maybe they did to much or something and of course the risk of a bad trip is there to.Can you comment on these things
Most (if not all) of those stories are bullshit. Hallucinogens are not bad for you unless you do something stupid like step on front of a car. (Okay - if you have a history of schizophrenia in your family I would probably advise against hallucinogens, although I don't think that link is proven.) If you look around the forums you'll probably find plenty of advice on how to handle your first trip, but to get you started: I suggest doing it with someone who's done it before; do it someplace you feel comfortable, and not with a whole lot of non-tripping people; and don't do it if you're in a bad / depressed state of mind. Hallucinogens will magnify whatever you're feeling, so if you're sad you might get very sad; but if you're happy, you should have a blast.
I agree with the second paragraph, but I wouldn't at all say that hallucinogens are not bad for you. A lot of people don't enjoy it or can't handle it, and sometimes it takes a while to get over the experience. That said, you're very unlikely to actually go insane and "never come back." You are pretty likely to feel weird for a bit until you regain some sense of self. If you have self-image issues, LSD can be really ugly, but it can also be a useful tool for getting over them. There are tons of posts about the dangers of LSD and what kind of people are likely to enjoy/not enjoy their experiences. Chances are, if you are a well-balanced, secure, relatively happy person, you will have a good time. If you are anxious, going through a rough patch, insecure, etc., it has a lot more potential to be scary (although LSD can sneak up on anyone ). Even if it is scary, though, if you have people to talk to (like us, and hopefully other good friends, preferably with some experience), you should be fine shortly, either during the trip itself or after you come down.
So it sounds like my first concern will not be a problem and the most i can do for a good trip is make sure im in a good mood with a couple friends around.
Yeah, thank you. This is starting to look like the marijuana forum :\ Of course no one here minds questions, but questions that have been answered weekly for years? And to which the answers are available after a 10 second session with google? That is definetely annoying.
Acid stays in your spinal column forever. Acid melts your brain. If you do acid 7 times you'll be considered legally insane. One guy did a whole bunch of acid and now he thinks he's a cup of orange juice. .... all bullshit. No offense but did you honestly think it was somehow possible to trip for the rest of your life?
My best friend's mom's boyfriend did acid for a week straight and gradually turned into a child. She said he started asking her things like "mommy, can I go out and play?" and eventually he ended up in a mental hospital.
Oh yea? Well my sister's boyfriends fathers great uncles roomate took acid once and his head exploded. Top that
Its not that big of a group of people, I've known his mom since I was 6... Just because I've heard a story from a friends mom makes it impossible? Its not like she is trying to scare me away from drugs, I smoked her a bowl.
I didnt say it was impossible, but I was implying that this person was clearly insane to begin with, perhaps he just didnt know it yet.
Could be, but I was also watching a show called "Drug Years" and it has interviews with people from the different decades. These guys from San Francisco during the time when acid was all over, they said there was some guy who was in the corner that you couldn't touch, because he thought he was an orange and he thought that he would pop or something.
Yeah? Well my uncles friend ate a bag of shrooms and now he thinks he's a lawnmower. I challenge you to find ONE properly documented account of LSD doing something like what your saying. I mean, if something like that happened the media would be all over it right? You better believe that the DEA or someone like them would take a story like that and use it in their anti drug war.
Pushit - here's the Snopes entry for drug horror stories. You'll see the "orange" one, fourth down or so, with the red ball that indicates FALSE. I suppose you don't have to trust Snopes if you don't want to, but they're widely seen as reliable.
For the short term, yeah that's possible. That's why people under a certain IQ shouldn't do hallucinogens. They can't handle it. Thanks to those kind of people things like LSD will never be legal.
Thanks man. Cheers. And cheers for the FAQ idea. There is so much repetition on this board, and I think getting rid of a lot of that with a FAQ will encourage us to come up with new, more interesting things to discuss.
Um, they have dude. That's the kind of shit they talk about in DARE. How exactly would someone's mental health be properly documented? Someone flipping out on LSD isn't a news story... what newspaper would care about that? Just like someone getting drunk and flipping out isn't a news story. The reason why is it happens all the time. Mental hospitals are filled with people who abused all kinds of drugs, LSD included. Talk to anybody who has experience and who knows a lot of people who have done LSD. Pretty much everyone I know, including myself of course, knows at least someone who is completely fucked up thanks to psychedelics and weed. Now many of these people return to some semblance of a normal life eventually. Hell, just read the boards! There are dozens of threads with people saying "Oh man, my body is being possessed, reality is too intense, aliens might be controlling me" etc. etc. Just open your eyes. (Edit: I just see that you admit it's possible for someone to think he is an orange "for a short time" - if this is true, isn't the next step simply to acknowledge that it takes some people a longer time to deal with that kind of shocking event than others?)
